Viewers have been asking me to review my 2007 Porsche 911 turbo on the channel, so here it is!

I picked up my Guards Red 6-speed 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo, also known as a 997.1 turbo, about 6 months ago and have had the chance to put around 1800 miles on it (as of the time of this video).

If you're reading this and have been around the channel for awhile, you'll know the main focus of my videos has been on my air cooled Porsche 911's (1995 Porsche 911 993 Coupe and 1986 Porsche 911 3.2 Coupe); however, with the addition of this 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo, the channel will now be venturing into the world of water cooled Porsche.

In this video, I introduce the Turbo to the channel and take viewers on a tour of the car, sharing my reasoning for buying a 997.1 Turbo.

About My Channel:

Rennthusiast (formerly Bavarian Enthusiast TV) is for the most part a Porsche 911 channel centering on experiencing air cooled Porsches, but will also feature other vintage, analog vehicles I add to the collection. The channel is the result of my deep passion for air cooled Porsches, my interest in the air cooled Porsche community, my obsession with modding, improving, buying and selling cars in general and my desire to put myself out there on YouTube and share these passions with other enthusiasts.

Porsches I currently own as of the time this video was produced:

1995 Porsche 911 993 Coupe in polar silver
1986 Porsche 911 Carrera in guards red
2007 Porsche 911 Turbo in guards red

A super quick modern Turbo 911 vs. a much slower air cooled car? I own both. Which one do I prefer? Watch the video to see.

Great video and beautiful 997 Turbo. I have a 2009 997.1 Turbo with the tiptronic, not because I don't like a 6 speed MT (I have that in my C2 Cab) but because of the power of the Turbo. With my Kline exhaust mine is about 525Hp, the tip is is a great transmission for this car, you really need to keep both hands on the wheel and not having to work thru the gears is kind of refreshing at those high revs and speed. Enjoy your Turbo!

Cool channel. Waiting until I’m done in Japan 🇯🇵 & back in the states, then I start shopping. Porsches in Japan are obscenely expensive.

The 997.1 Turbo in 6 Speed is the greatest Turbo of all time. Mezger + 6 Speed is absolute perfection. I also feel that it’s the real successor (in styling) to the classic 993Turbo. Perfect size. Beautiful design. Modern classic that is under priced at the moment.

Great car and I say definitely a keeper. I have a 2009 turbo coupe/6-spd and I hope to have it until I can no longer drive.

I testdrive both the manual and tiptronic 997.1 turbo.
Im usually a manual driver but for this car i prevered the tiptronic more and thats the one i bought!
It takes a little time to learn how the tt reacts, but for this power its the better choise, you can hear people say bla bla bla the manual is the one but if your not on the track monthly the tt is the one!
Also its easyer to tune becouse the tt is much stronger.
My tip, if you wanne buy one, dont let the internet tell you and try both!!
Anyway its the last real 911 whith the Mezger engine and they will be desirable...( so get one now)

Beautiful car! I miss mine (black 2008). Sold it to purchase my current 1997 993 4S with 34K miles. But no worries, I intend to drive the wheels off of it. Enjoy!

I sold gen 1 and 2 turbos a few years ago and totally agree the Tip and PDK's much easier to get the full performance more of the time....but, manual ALL day long for me! 🤩

I think you would have enjoyed the driving experience a lot more in the 996. It's the closest thing you can get to the classic 911 experience with a water cooled car, and the lights happen to look pretty good on the GT1 as it took the checkered flag at Le Mans.

That 997 Turbo is otherworldly in performance. Nothing can touch it for the price. The 984 will forever be gorgeous

I see you sold this one, but I learned from my sportbikes a long, long time ago that driving one the way it was meant to be driven on the street is a futile attempt and becomes very boring. At least if you value having your driving license. So I get the air cooled stuff. Wring out a slower car to redline and not shatter the speed limit in something more viseral and raw.

Air cooled are nice but often times you want to punch it to feel the power and that's where the water cooled shines!

The MEZGER engine is the most reliable engine ever created. There is not 1 thing better in an old Porsche, its a rust heap compared to this LEGEND
