Have you ever been lost trying to understand the information in a gyro datasheet? This video should help! In this first part I go through the mechanical characteristics of a MEMS gyro and explain how each of the parameters affect your choice of gyro and its implementation.

Man your videos are dope. Super practical. Way better than how they taught at my school

I got caught up in the excitement and left it off! It should be there now.

6:56 I am a little bit confused. The datasheet says that LSB sensitivity =0.00875 @ 250 °/s
but I calculated that the LSB sensitivity was 250 / 2^15 = 0.0076 °/s
What am I doing wrong?

Thank you for sharing your deep understanding of the control system subject.
I am looking for a process control loop real life example. Consider a liquid flow control loop consisting of pump, control valve, flow sensor and controller. How can I deduce the loop transfer function from actual datasheets of pump, control valve and sensor. Then determine the correct tunning parameters of controller

Great video and nice T-shirt. Doing some MEMS modeling, which is a bit different than the optical and/or mechanical gyros I've used in the past. These videos are an excellent resource!

Aww, it's a units issue. In Crossbow they state PSD and FFT in degrees per hour, in my video I use degrees per second since that is what is in the datasheet. So the difference is a factor of 3600 sec/hr. Hope that helps!

Hey Brian, thank you for the great videos!

Btw. at 9:49 you accidently wrote 100 counts, but i think you wanted to write about 1000 counts like you said it... no big deal

Many greetings from Germany!

Hi Brian, but is the FFT to ARW formula right? Should it be 1/60 as reported into crossbow doc?

Why is the sensitivity not equal to the measurement range divided by 32767 (15 bits)?

Hi brother, could you please help to calculate threshold and resolution of gyroscope from datasheet

If my gyroscope is sensitive enough to measure the angular velocity of the Earth, How should I do to remove it from my measurements? Thank you!

Rotating in Inertial space ? Is it possible to have a gyro that detect the rotation of the earth ?

Hey I am using MPU6050 Gyro sensor(it's 3 Axis). Initially the values are x= -0.18 y=0.01 z=0.00 and after rotation to 90 degree there is change in values for a moment and then it settles down for the same initial values of x, y, z before rotation. Why does this happen? and i want to convert these values into degrees. can you help me out please?
