HOW DOES PARACETAMOL WORK?

Paracetamol/Panadol (Acetaminophen/Tylenol) is a cheap and effective drug that is used to treat pain…but how does it work? This short video discusses the mechanism of action of paracetamol, looking at a few possible side effects, comparing it to drugs like aspirin and ibuprofen to determine which, if any, pain relief drugs you should be using.

I also look at how Arachidonic Acid, Cyclooxygenase (COX) and prostaglandins work together to cause pain and fever that you might feel with a headache or a bad cold. Paracetamol is thought to inhibit this pathway, but after over 100 years of research…scientists still aren’t certain.

Pain relieving drugs can cause side effects like gastrointestinal bleeding as well as liver and kidney damage during metabolisation, so care should be taken not to overdose when using these medications.

I was wondering if you could tell me why they seem to buddy paracetamol up with a lot of other pain relieving drugs such as, Ibuprofen, Codeine, Diazepam or Tylenol.. this seems like pain-relief overkill

I had 104 F fever just took paracetamol and it dropped to 101 F I was curious to know how this drug ' paracetamol ' actually works .

ive been suffering for 2 days from a Razor blade stuck in my throat feeling, 8/10 PAIN-SCALE, its been super painful to swallow any food and drink i cant even sleep its soo painful! thats exactly what it feels like a Razor blade stuck in their! OUCH! i gave up, i took 2x 500mg paracitamol about 2 hours ago the pain is still there but heavily reduced i feel loads better than i did 3/10 painscale :O GREAT this is way more comfortable to cope with.
