To help clarify the eCVT, there is no belt or chain used in the more traditional CVT. It uses the MGU1 and MGU2 to keep the engine at peak RPM so that it is providing maximum output. So the transmission is an all mechanical drivetrain that is a mixture of ICE and Electric motors. So the engine will sit at a constant speed when you give it the beans and the electric motors provide the variable output as the car goes faster.

We have had two Prius. Both with well over 125, 000 miles, the best part we have not had to do any unusual types of maintenance just oil changes, tires, and one needed rear brakes. They are GLC older people will remember the GLC
