Restoration of Greek Melkite Catholic church in Aleppo - after liberation from FUKUS terrorists

The stunning restoration of the Greek Melkite Catholic church in Aleppo - targeted multiple times by sectarian armed gangs in East Aleppo.

A labour of love by Greek architectural engineer, Najwan Tahannis. Please watch his shy, proud smile at the end of his interview when he tells me that many people have told him how beautiful the church is.

While the West claims outrage and demands the protection of Christians in Syria, they are effectively ensuring their persecution while financing, arming and promoting the terrorist groups who have systematically desecrated churches and massacred Christian communities across Syria.

The only power standing between Christianity and its extinction in Syria is the Syrian government and the Syrian Arab Army who have protected and defended these communities because they are Syrian and part of the diverse, historic fabric of this nation essential for its continued multi-cultural identity.

The Greek Melkite Catholic church was extensively damaged by the terrorist gangs holed up in East Aleppo for almost 5 years. I remember visiting this site shortly after the liberation in December 2016, we were not allowed inside at the time because of the risk of mines left behind by the departing extremists.

Now, the church is almost entirely restored. Gone are the blackened remnants of its broken architecture, replaced by stunning new stonework and restored artefacts that reflect the heart and passion of Najwan Tahannis for whom this project was clearly one of profound faith and belief in the ability of this community to rise from the ashes of externally driven terrorism.

This is the spirit of Syria and Syrians, this is why they will survive this war and emerge stronger and more beautiful than before.

As Archbishop Jeanbart said, immediately after the liberation of East Aleppo by the SAA:

“I go say a few prayers, and then I feel full of life, full of hope, full of joy — and full of ideas!”

Thank you for your work, Vanessa. Now we shall all pray that all of the country is kept safe and pray that the people shall live in peace. The church is absolutely lovely. I'm a building inspector and I'm really impressed by the quality work that they've done.

Thanks you for showing us this Vanessa. I have already commented in response to another below but I wish to repeat that the restoration of this Church and the restoration of Aleppo by her People while the western "christian" world stands idly by should make all of our blood boil while we bow our heads in collective shame. That Western Countries have failed and continue to fail to contribute to the reconstruction of Syria and the rehabilitation of her society and her people in their hour of need is a matter of not inconsiderable shame while the continuation in force of Sanctions against Syria and the Syrian People by the EU represents probably the most despicable action ever taken by the Union.
Those Sanctions have been slowly strangling Syria since they entered into force in January of 2012 and they have been renewed each and every 6 months since then with not even one Member-State having either the honour or the guts to raise their voice against them in circumstances where just one, yes, ONE Member State refusing to renew the Sanctions is enough to cause those Sanctions to fall and disappear forever. ONE Member State from 27 or whichever number it happens to be while Britain spins and twiddles her thumbs deciding what to do for the future. Given the untoward power of the British Foreign Service in the development of European Union Foreign Policy it is little wonder that Sanctions were introduced against Syria, originally in 2011 and again, in more comprehensive form and affect in January 2012, which Sanctions have continued in force ever since. Those Sanctions represent the takeover of the EU by NATO and the use of economic terrorism against reluctant parties within the EU by the collective of NATO Leaders, directed by the US State Department.
Does any ONE EU Member State have the moral guts and fortitude with which to direct EU Trade and Foreign Policy to separate itself from the US and NATO NeoConLiberalism and end these reprehensible Sanctions against the Syrian People?
The nobility of the Syrian People in refusing to bow down to the savagery that almost engulfed their Country and Society should, I hope cause all of us in Europe, in N America and in Australasia to raise our heads, stiffen our resolve and ensure that the so-called Leaders in our society are punished for their actions while ensuring that such savagery is never, ever again allowed to rear its utterly despicable head: NOT in my name nor in the name of any one of us.
Meanwhile, the nobility of the Greek Melkite Catholic Community of Aleppo should be applauded by all of us. That they have not alone saved their Cathedral but restored it in the manner described in your video should give hope to all within the human family of the nobility of spirit that lives amongst the majority of us while warning us of the carnage capable of being visited upon an innocent People by an evil, immoral, grasping and utterly ruthless Ruling Class otherwise known as our Governments, our financial institutions, our 'think-tanks', our media (so-called) and those shadowy figures that lurk, unseen by most of us behind what we are led to believe are our democratic institutions.

If the Syrian War teaches some or any of us to notice a glimmer of this realization amongst those of us who live in our so-called western "civilized" world, that should give hope to all for the future.
Thank you Vanessa and thank you to the brave and noble People of Syria.

Thanks for sharing. God bless Syria and its brave people. And shame on western media. I stopped watching that years ago.
