My heart hurts for the airmen who didn't have anyone come for them.

I know this feeling ❤ My elder brother, a decade older than me served in the Indian armed forces. I was around 10 when we went to see him for the first time while commissioning. I just ran to him, and he lifted me up above him... Never fought with him after that 😊

Thank you for your service. If all Americans were like you we would be a lot better. Thank you again and God bless you and all your brothers in arms.

I went to basic with a guy who had no surviving family, our company waited til each of our family had all come to try to trap us out, and we told our family to stand quietly by our side. Once everyone had shown up, we all, as a unit tapped him out and hugged him cuz he was our family now. I swear to god it was the only time I ever saw my SDS smile.

We had a woman, the DIs wife, tap out every single recruit who's family didn't show. If only for a moment, she gave us love, compassion, care and a humanity most of us have, and never since, known. Brings me to tears years later just thinking about it.

It's in our nature to love, as it's in our nature to hate. It's in our nature to give, as it's in our nature to take. It's in our nature to sacrifice, as it's in our nature never to compromise. It's in our nature to fight, as it's in our nature to die.

He was lucky his family found him so quickly. My poor brother had to stand at attention? near the very end. My dad had a hell of a time trying to locate his son, amongst the 400+ new AF members. It didn't help that my lil' Bro had also been fitted with his very own bottle cap goggles, a look which none of us had ever seen on him before. It got to the point that my bro had to eventually try to discreetly signal to my dad that it was him, after having to watch our dad go back and forth in front of him for at least an hour.
