Work continues on the large recreation pond. We found a log from a tree that blew down during a recent tornado and recycled it into our water feature! We always try to make our ponds as natural-looking as possible.

ED, ED, ED, and the missing in action JAAK!! 😂 Nice piece of property!! This is a team with no loose links. I'd love some of the bark slabs from the tree for orchid mounts. I use cork bark now that I collect locally, from an old experimental tree grove, that's on the ground. Cork was widely grown during the wars as cork for life vests. This recreation pond will be stunning once completed with landscape. Keep on Rocking It Team. 👍👍👍

Love these videos Ed! Super informative. Every video I watch from the Aquascape crew puts me one step closer to leaving IT and starting a water feature company!

This looks superb. Nice to watch the wetland being built after watching your session on the AU’s ‘advanced construction: wetlands’ seeing you bring in all the different elements. 👍

This will be another incredible achievement
With all these talented artist collaborating how can you go wrong

I guess when you have to ask HOW MUCH this will end up costing you can't afford it
So I keep on working on a much smaller scale

So many questions I’d been asking myself as I attempt to build my own recreation style pond in the next few weeks answered. I’ve dragged a few huge fallen Grey Box Gum trees with root ball over to go inside, and got a 20T granite Boulder, I’m going to need a crane to set that though..

Hey Ed, another great video. Off the wall question for you. You are the person I trust the most to answer this properly...

Our 20k gallon rec pond is frozen now. We have kept a hole in it and have an aquascape aerator running. Right now we have it on one of the first ledges (in the photographic layer), about 8 inches under surface. Is this a good depth? My thoughts on it.... deep enough so it doesn't freeze (ice thickness currently about 4 inches), but not too deep. The water motion is preventing freezing for now, but we get MUCH colder here.

I was thinking that pumping -20C air (-4F) down too low would be bad. I.e. I think putting this deeper, in 6 foot deep end would freeze the fish out? Especially as the air get down to the -40C (-40F) temps in a month.

One more quick thing... the ice thickness is soon safe to skate on (already likely there, but i want to give it another 2-4 inches or so thickness)... would this damage my koi? Skating noise, stopping, hockey sticks? My kids want to skate on it really bad, I just want to make sure I don't hurt/kill my koi. Thoughts on that also?

To summarize, 1) depth to out aerator, and 2) does skating on the pond hurt the koi (accoustics)? Thanks for all you do.

Hey Ed when you was explaining rocks over the Aqua blocks and you said you had formulas for that part is that something i can read about somewhere? As i will be building a rec pond and would like to start researching/planning it. As my little pond now just had biofalls and Skimmer 400 which didnt need to be really thought out.

Dear ed, doesnt the tree-log add alot of decay and brown water to your pond?

Hi Ed, a question, can we use aggregate stone or crushed stone to filter debris in wetland filter? It is work like river stone?
