Apple has a huge problem (but it’s good for us)

Apple just suspended work on Apple Vision Pro 2. Now I know that might sound like a bad thing, but what if it wasn’t bad? What if it was good?

Sadly I have to agree, with no 'Stand Out Feature', it is amazing and the best Visual experience I have ever seen. But for $3500 with nothing more special than one that can cost under $600, it's just not worth buying for the average consumer

Let's start off with the obvious. The $3500 asking price failed. But then, even if it was actually affordable for anyone outside influencers, there just isn't any content. Fix the content issue, then this may become desireable.

Watching this in my AVP 😸 It’s not for most people but I’m glad it exists, and use it daily as my main tv and external desktop monitor

Tbh Apple should’ve ate the cost of Vision Pro made it cheap to let a lot of ppl access it and use services to entice ppl

I gotta say two things: 1.) I feel the VR headsets are more isolating than connecting to other people. 2.) John, strong work on bettering your health. I need to do the same.

I could see a HomePod situation where Apple rolls out a cheaper, less feature packed but better selling Vision Air and discontinuing the Vision Pro for a while. Then bringing it back later once the idea has ACTUALLY caught on.

Yep. Apple Vision Pro is on a another level, kind of like how we went from corded phones to desktop pcs, to analog wireless phones, to flip phones, to smart phones.

- I can imagine air traffic controllers and the military will find the Apple Vision Pro useful to show many screens simultaneously that are 150-400 inches each...that's a lot of information.
- Current F16 figher helmets are $400k each with just a HUD, whereas the AVP could be incorporated into a helmet for far less than $400k.
- Infantry soldiers wearing a helmet with the AVP.
- AVP's passthrough is 120 degrees which allow real world interaction with the firearm, target, throwing/catching.
- I want to get the Apple Vision Pro, it's not that expensive compared to a great home theater, and people don't realize that it's got eye tracking (no mouse cursor), an 8k screen, many many 300 in screens, 3D camera, spatial audio speakers, creates an Imax or the biggest commercial theater screen size even when you're sitting in a tight coach airline seat.
- the eye tracking (replaced a cursor) is a game changer.
- way easier to develop than Facebook Quest.
- AVP is not constrained to a box game model like the Quest, instead the AVP world model is infinite.
- air traffic controllers can see the perspective of a commercial plane pilot landing.
- The AVP's many many virtual 150in-300in screens can replace a commercial airline cockpit's many physical screens, and that physical space can hold more important physical equipments.

I'm sure Apple can save more than a few bucks by I don't know... removing the outer high res "Eye Display" which is kind of Uncanny Valley creepy anyway, and replace it with a pair of googly eye stickers, eyes drawn with a Sharpie, blank lenses, anything?

The sound of the audience when Apple announced the price made it into every “instant regret”, “idiot fails”, and “fail” video compilation for a reason. Everyone, even those who were techies and really wanted to try/like it, knew it was a fail at that price.
