I'm shocked that the Tuskegee Syphilis study isn't on here. Went on for decades, the participants weren't informed, targeted black men, and all to study the life cycle of syphilis despite it being pretty well known by that point. It's been used as a classic case study for ethical research since

A lot of these didn't go horribly wrong,
they started horribly wrong.

You know what's interesting about the Stanford Prison Experiment is that before the 2015 film was released there was another one that came out 5 years earlier in 2010 called The Experiment starring Forrest Whitaker. I had no idea this was based on a true story man. Forrest went from a super geek to the biggest savage in the prison bro. Tripped me out, man.

The Aversion Project in South Africa is horrible. From 1969 to 1987, a hospital in Pretoria took in suspected "homosexual deviants" within the South African Defense Force. Many had confessed their feelings to their regiment's chaplain. Overall, 900 men and women, which also included prisoners, were subjected to shock aversion therapy, hormone therapy, chemical castration, and worst of all, forced gender reassignment surgery, all in hopes of weeding out the "incurable defect" of homosexuality from prisons and the military. Some prisoners were discharged with their surgeries incomplete. None of the psychiatrists who ran these experiments ever faced any kind of charges.

Great video, I've always felt so compelled to pursue the greatest interests of mankind, to wit. A way to be influential, powerful and protected. Population control and the need for a singular world order and universal government. the inner me is gasping to find out knowledge about the human race and about the things that not everyone is destined to know. I wish to blossom into the enlightenment that our forebears wanted so desperately for us to gain.

I would add the Fernald School "Science Club" in which young boys were given radiated milk and cereal without their knowledge. Even some of the parents weren't aware becauase some of them had no idea their children were subjected. The school didn't ask for consent on all their subjects.

This was one hell of a way to find out my family had been experimented on…. My school was literally in the clip they used for the South Dorset experiment

At least the yellow fever guy only experimented on himself, shows a moral and ethical boundary.

Can we say go horribly wrong when some of it was intentional when they intentionally gave no treatment

You left out the experiment where college students were told to shock someone every time they answered a question wrong up to administering lethal doses of electricity. The person answering the questions wasn’t really hooked up to electrodes they were just acting, but most of the people administering the shocks freaked out begged to stop, but kept hitting the button. It messed them up even after they found out the truth.

I can see how the superficial level of thinking that is the hallmark of watchmojo would lead them to include these experiments on this list
