I cannot find the AC document declaring what rules are being followed. If they're following the World Sailing RRS for 2021-2024 then NZ should have been the one penalized for several of those leeward overlaps.

RRS 2.17 :
"If a boat clear astern becomes overlapped within two of her hull

lengths to leeward of a boat on the same tack, she shall not sailabove her proper course while they remain on the same tack andoverlapped within that distance, unless in doing so she promptly sailsastern of the other boat. This rule does not apply if the overlap
begins while the windward boat is required by rule 13 to keep clear."
NZ did this several times, trying to push Italy up, even though it was not their proper course, you can see because they immediately turn back down as they would have been in irons otherwise. I'm guessing that AC is following different rules though, but I cannot find them.
