Jump Towers - Airborne School, Fort Benning, GA

A quick look at one of the 34 foot towers and the 250 foot towers. The 34 foot towers simulate jumping/exiting from an Aircraft while in a parachute harness hanging from a cable, and the 250 tower gives you the opportunity to actually be under canopy, dropped after you reach the top. I want to thank one of the Senior Black Hats for allowing me to get some footage of both. Airborne! Class 22(I think)-85!

Amazing video. Thank you so much. I am writing a book on two soldiers and trying to help them reconstruct and confirm their memories of what they could see from up top decades ago. This was invaluable. Thanks!

Went thru with Alpha company July 89....cat 5/6 every damn day! So, they moved up our runs in the morning around 4 am, still was cat 5/6! I think we had around 600 plus soldiers maybe 700 that started. But, after those killer runs with a meat wagon on the rear end, we ended up graduating around 3 to 400. Man they were falling out like flies, from the runs and to all of the not so PLFs that were being performed. Man those Black Hat doesn't play around, don't sing or clap and watch what happens....
Airborne to all that made/makes it through to LEG forever for the ones that don't!!!
3 jumps C141 starlifter and 2 with the C130s, my first night jump was a real night jump...not a dawn jump lol.

Master Airborne one of the greatest qualifications-until you find out what your day is like as a primary or even worse the DZNCO lol.

I went through Airbone school in 94. Was stationed at Benning 93-97. I spent many weekends drinking beer and sneaking into the airplanes on the ground and climbing the tower…

Sure looks a lot different than when I went through Jump School in 1963. The 34 foot tower look much more modern, and dare I say not so rickety! I would love it if you encluded some video of trainees going through their paces on the towers.
All the way Sir! Airborne!

Graduated Airborne 1983.  All I remember about it is we started with over 250 men.  12 women.  Graduated 82 men and 2 women.  1 man died.  Snapped his neck on a landing.  Several got screwed up during jump week.  And had to be medevacked. Its no joke.  Its the real deal.
