Do not go to Italy without downloading Rick’s tours. Used them a month ago in Venice, Florence, and Rome. Thanks Rick!

Just don't go in the summer, beat the crowds, beat the heat in Rick's words.

I spent 6 months in Roma back in 1991 and that wasn't enough. One week in Rom is a blink of an eye.

Watching Rick Steven's video is illuminating! I now realize why Americans have a distorted expectation when they come to Rome. We do not mind so much! We are self-deprecating enough to see the merit of a genius who built himself an excellent reputation, traveling, the best job in the world!!! After all, it happened to me; I was afraid of going to New York where I meet a lot more welcoming and helping people than I expected and had nothing to fear walking around. They pickpocketed my husband in Paris, never in Italy even as tourists. So, what I wish is that Rick's followers do not worry too much about coming to Italy. Travel the world with commonsense rules, as Rick says. W Rick! Greetings from Rome, Italy!

I’ve watched your episodes I’ve listened to your podcast I’ve bought the Italy guidebook three times now for three separate vacations. This is the first time we’re taking a child, I’ve never done more research in my life keep a small person happy lol. Thank you so much Rick, I received so much wonderful advice from you over the years I cannot begin to express my gratitude. I’m watching this as a refresher seven days before my 15 night vacation to Rome Venice Bologna and Rimini.

Just got back from Rome for the 2nd time, it was just like the first. Fascinating, plenty to see, but crowded, crowded, crowded. It really is brutal! Not for the faint hearted. I will definitely come back for a longer time, at least 5 days, with plenty of rest time and just time to unwind after being packed around people all day, it gets way too much.

This was a fantastic talk! My boyfriend and I are now going to see Michelangelo's Moses which we didn't see highlighted in any of our travel books. I like that there is also an acknowledgement of the propaganda in some of the art which is another interesting part of history.

I always wonder what it is to live in history on a daily basis with buildings and monuments which are centuries old. Fervently hope Rome remains frozen in time for the millions of its aficionados.

Very good advice here, thank you. Just to be clear though, St. Peter's is not a "cathedral"; it is a basilica. The Archbasilica Cathedral of St. John Lateran is the mother church of the diocese of Rome and is the Pope's cathedral; that is where his chair is aka "cathedra".

So much to see there. Practically every church is basically a work of art.
I recommend
Pantheon
Castel Sant'Angelo
Via Appia Antica
Baths of Carracalla
Baths of Diocletian
Trevi Fountains
Spanish Steps
Piazza Navona
Trajans market
The aqeducts
Fosse Ardeatine site
