Glidetrack HD hybrid slider: Test and Advice

I have been testing out the Glidetrack HD Hybrid Slider: From Glide track;
It is the upgrade i have got myself from the hague camslide. The quality difference is very very noticeable but would i think it would make any difference to the shoots?

In truth there is little difference in the shots but there is a MASSIVE difference in the speed at which i am now able to work, and a big drop in wasted shots from having jittery movement and thus a lot less swearing from myself when i am on a job. workflow is now vastly speeded up as an added benefit the editing is also much faster now.

My advice would be to go for the hybrid slider but with the longer track. a minimum of a meter but best go for the 1.5m length. I doubt you would own it and be disappointed in anyway.

DUDE!!! That bit about gimp outfits made me laugh so hard. Love it.

yep you would really need a motor for that, i think glidetrack can sell them as well, or get a rotating egg timer thing and a string and probibly just as effective

I was going to try one of those Hague tracks, because they were uk made, but I was wondering about those nylon bearings that they use. You have helped me make my decision and probably saved me some headaches - I'll go for the 1.5m length Glidetrack - thanks for review and advice !

nice one Dom. do you reckon this could be used for time-lapse astronomy shoots? i guess you probably need a motorised glider for those ...

Good Video, nice to know that the Hague slider is not that great with heaver cameras... I have a ID mkIv which is pretty heavy.

Is the glide wort the double price difference though?

How would you compare one of these tracks to a rolling dolly? and curved tracks to rotate around a point of interest? cheers

How much weight can a Glidetrack HD take?

Have you tried loosening the alan bolts on the platform on your sticky strack then tighen them up on track?

The old one also seems a lot more noisy than the glidetrack. Did you notice that as well? Nice vid btw.

I saw one of those curved track systems on a commercial shoot on a beach. It seemed really expensive, the guy was sat filming on the dolly, spinning around a model. Maybe a downsized version of that could be interesting... I thought of rolling dollies for table tops and stuff like that. I like the idea of 'unlimited' tracks and avoiding the bulkiness of those tubes!

You are moving from a "friction" slider to a "bearing slider, which is a big deal. The good news is your camera won't fall off the end and hit the deck much like what happened when you fumbled and dropped it. The bad news is you really have to watch what focal length you use with your slides. I slide an 85mm barely on a full frame, but disastrously on a crop sensor. It's all mathmatics. Keep the track free of minute particles. A grain of sand will show corrupt the best slide.

It's the difference between having jerky or smooth footage, for me its worth triple the price

that other camera was filming me dong that but i ended up accidentally deleting that footage

slidyness is fine but the heavier the kit you have on the worse it gets. if shooting with the 550d and a cheap light head then it is fine

Could always buy your silicone spray from a local hardware/ auto parts store :) just not Halfrauds

the same way as you would compare a tractor with a car... totally different things: in terms of dolly to the track but a curved track... not seen one of those. I shall make a video as to why you would want a tracking system first

Could You make your own ? any one made one, worth it?

yeah but then you are restricted to always shooting on table tops....

I have that slider that you showed at the beginning and it sucks, I spent over $200 US and it is not worth it.

Just thought with dropping it you might have knocked one [or more] of the feet out of alignment.
