It amazes me how so many people have forgotten the meanings of the words structural, institutional, systemic and systematic.

The US and the UK has societal, economical, and political structures that are so different that you can’t compare the two. In America today it’s a lot more about class than it is about race. Black, White, Asian, Native American people in poverty are all facing many problems from all facets in their lives while the rich (no matter their race or ethnicity) are shielded from this. The life of poor black people are vastly different from their rich counterparts, same goes for white individuals. White cops killing blacks, blacks killing cops (something that happens frequently yet rarely gets covered in the media), blacks killing Asians, whites killing Asians, Hispanics killing blacks, etc. The poor are fighting amongst themselves while the rich of all races are shielded from all this mess. I’m saying this from my lived experience as a person of color growing up and living in America. It’s not so much about race as it is about class and wealth.

I was expecting to hear two different views who would have an educated debate... That's not what happened here...

Don't give Britain a pass on its slave past. America was British before it was American. Europe, which includes Britain, is the source of Black slavery. I'm not saying it's better or worse in either country. But they share a past.

They should just do what the UK government has done and get a report into racism, and write the conclusion (that there isn't any) and just publish that.

Keep everybody divided, so they do not come together to fight what is wrong with the world.

"Collective exhale." Nice expressions. "Here in the UK the govt changes the temperature of the country... the template, that top layer can be changed by the govts of the day.
.. cloak the systemic racism.... racism is inherent in empire."

Thank goodness we have a government which is not pandering to this drivel.

Capehart should seek immediate medical attention for his paranoia. On the flipside, I guess he would dance and whistle through Southeast DC at night only afraid if a cop might show up.

He doesnt even look like a thief, robber or rapist, or criminal. America is a nuts place but life is hard for everyone. Apart from Prince William and Harry. And Megan.

Very interesting to hear how a blackman must carry himself, not to draw attention, not to seen as a threat. So sad to have to feel and behave like this every day of your life.

We took them and sold them to you. Now you don't want what you bought. This is not about intelligence. Be basic.
