I think all of Batman’s enemies respect him enough to actually pay for and attend his funeral. Batman doesn’t go out of his way to kill anyone unless he has a valid reason, making him one of the most well written heroes out there.

Here’s a fun fact about the penguin, in one of the comics, the penguin was betrayed and cast out of Gotham, resulting in the crime rate to skyrocket out of control to the point even the bat family couldn’t keep it under control. Batman tracked down the penguin and told him that the penguin did a better job keeping Gotham safe then he could, and brought the penguin back. (Not all in exact words but in a nutshell what happened)
