The console stereos had better sound than most stereos made today, plus they were actual quality furniture makes them all that much better than the crap we're stuck with today.

I remember a time before the throw away culture back in 1970 when the tube went out on our tv and we had to wait 3 weeks to get a new tube for it. We played records all day long on our large console stereo system. Much better days those were.

I'm so glad you posted this classic stereo system. Back in the 1980's I saw a state of the art stereo by Fisher stereo rack system in a department store in New York City & I quoted this is a beautiful system since the console stereo, I got a negative look like no one ever heard of models like these yes they did exist and this model proves solid state and all!
I have a Delmonico front plated solid state I purchased in the early 1980's 10 watts a channel BSR compatible ceramic cartridge type. I just viewed someone making a replica of the console stereo with a modern turntable & amplifier much higher for the cartridge signal/sound. This one presented Is awesome.!👍👍👏👏

I bought a Motorola system similar to this and restored it for my younger brother for his new house. It is from '69 I believe. It has a AM/FM amplified tuner and record changer. I bought it at an estate sale for $35. Took a while to clean everything up and fix the broken tuner channel pointer. I also stripped and refinished the wood and veniers. This thing was built like a piece of furniture and Except for the old plastic knobs! It was an awesome find and works well in his house under a 60" TV.

I'm 69 years old and when I was young, everyone I knew had a stereo console.

Thanks for sharing. My dad used to have that. Now that i’m on my 40s and got into audiophile stuff, i wish i still had this vintage player same as my dad’s

Great-looking console, and I love those louvered speaker covers! Haven't seen that before.

Beautiful model, very nice wood and the hidden speakers grill was unique. Many of these 5 foot long consoles were-are ugly and full of fake doors, handles and drawers made of molded plastic. They were a big deal from 1963 until about 1977, replaced by the all-in-one compact systems that took up far less space and the speakers could be placed close or far apart. The big reason the manufacturers started making these 5 ft wide (or wider) was to achieve more stereo separation, all in a single massive cabinet. At least they were low and not very deep. Some of these are so ugly I spoze now they are collectible as an example of sixties and seventies bad taste. This Model C950 does not fit in that category, it is a very timeless design. Thanks for this video.

Beautiful condition! The classic Zenith "2 gram tonearm." And very unique amplifier controls and functions. Never knew "Loudness" was ever incorporated into a console of that manufacturing time.

I miss these HIFI's so much! I have dreams about them sometimes... Not surprised it's a Zenith! Their products were built to last.

Console stereos have a very underrated sound quality. Everyone draws to the new gimmicks like flies to S***!!!

Classic Americana. Keep that in the den and never let it go.

If you have shutters on your stereo speakers, you have a manufacturer looking out for beauty in design, as well as functionality.

Great find. I just got one similar from a buddy. It was his parents bought new and he enjoyed it growing up. It is in flawless cabinet condition but partially working. Radio and speakers fine but turntable not so much but it doesn't matter. I am going 2 gut it and modernize it. Receiver for Bluetooth and Alexa and new speakers with some LED lighting. Maybe even a new turntable but will decide that as I get into the project. Depends on if I decide 2 keep it or sell it.

Woah! Cool sound!

I once saw this kind of antique together with the antique television set like this.

we had one of these, or very similar. Mom's cat ripped the cloth on the front to shreds about a week after we got it. Always did like that cat 😻😻😻
