The video title says "facts" but all i hear is marketing buzzwords without any concrete plans on how things are going to work.

Fact No. 1: It's the dumbest idea ever. It's going to fail and its ruins will stand as a memorial to human hybris for eternity.

I can't get over the fact an extremely traditional strict culture like Saudi Arabia, is trying to build a project that the most progressive consulting teams and tech-bros been dreaming off for years.

This got to be some over-hype scam for governments and inverters like Elon Musk's Hyperloop.

The bit during #16 while they were talking about "diversifying the economy from oil dependency~~~by focusing on green energy" while showing HUNDREDS of giant earthmoving machines on a wasteland of a construction site is brutally satirical lmao

There are too many points of failure when it comes to this project, especially when it comes to transport.

Take your pick on which is more ambitious, the proprosed Jeddah Tower, which will be taller than the Burj Khalifa, or The Line.

1. Sunlight isn't making it to the bottom of that thing. Be ready to live in the dark in most spaces
2. Can't help but feel like this is a massive propaganda stunt
3. If you have the money and technology to do all this why are you building it in the middle of nowhere and trying to get people to move there? You have plenty of needy people in your country that could benefit from the infrastructure improvement in existing cities
4. Why does it need to be a line? I'm confused how the form adds to the function and that's part of why it seems like propaganda because the shape is sensational and doesn't seem to have an engineered purpose (and don't tell me that's the only way to make a high speed train)
5. "Artificial" cities (ones that the government builds apart from where people already live in hopes to get people to move there inorganically) historically rarely work if at all. People won't leave their homes unless there is a huge incentive and that would require giving away the property or even bribing people to move there or simply using authoritarian force
6. You are designing in the most vulnerable possible features to this city. Assuming everything goes to plan, your entire train network can be completely shut down in any vulnerable spot and completely cripple the entire workings of the city since there's no other methods of transportation. And that's not the only vulnerability either
7. This is only a theory but how is this going to affect wind in the area? Just having a huge wind wall could cause unintended environmental problems and also I struggle to believe even modern materials could withstand the kind of forces being applied to that large of a surface area, assuming it's non-porous as it seems
8. Speaking of wind, how is this structure going to handle any natural disaster? Since it is essentially a monolith, how resistant to earthquakes could it possibly be? How will it handle a flood? For that matter, where is all its water even coming from?

tl;dr surface level, I don't buy it.

I think the next time you make Sponsored Content, it should be labeled as such.

Nearly every "fact" is just what they have in mind for this project, but multiple channels by urbanists and people just into this stuff have pointed out this project is incredibly flawed and can't be built the way they've planned it. This was a really sad thing to see, and I really expect better from you, WatchMojo.
