Good video. Only things I recommend to add in order to make installs easier are the following:

1.) Mark with chalk line the starter and course lines. While we have great installers, it is best to have the best straight course lines and prevent the “snake effect.”

2.) cut the starters on a 45 degree where they meet at the corners of the rake and wave for direct and continuous bonding.

Excellent questions throughout the video by the way.

excellent video!
I have about 8 bundles of this shingle in my garage waiting to put on my shed (tomorrow). I've never done shingles before but like everything else, I'll 'do it myself' because contractors are just off the hook with their pricing (and I am an IT Field engineer contractor and unlicensed electrician). I did the ice and water shield today, drip edges, and the underlayment (covering my ice and water shield), so I feel very protected, lol. I am not even going to have heat out in my little 12 x 12 shed but I want the experience of doing all of this because I plan to redo the roof on my main house.
The roof is only a 4:12 but around freezing temps with no sun, there is NO traction up there.... and I live in a rural area and the wind is absolutely atrocious! There will be no wind at all, all day, and as soon as I get up on the roof, BOOM, 20 Mph winds! lol That is a little exaggeration but it did happen like that last week. Today there was an annoying steady 5-10Mph breeze that made doing the ice and water shield and the synthetic underlayment extremely difficult and aggravating.

Thanks again for the video!!!

I shingled this huge doghouse with Atlas Castlebrook 42" super wide, it turned out great but i wish i would have watched this video first, it was below 40 degrees and i didn't know i could just rip them apart, it would have saved me some time cause i cut them all with a box cutter. They are really nice shingles and i got the best looking dog castle on the block maybe the county.

They will look for anything to a
void a warranty but can't even teach installation properly. 12 inch nail pattern to keep them nails away from lap seam

Can you install in cold weather?
Can you install over 3 tab shingles?
These and more questions are asked Atlas direct in this video

Lots of variables in the roof warranty. How does the homeowner prove that the contractor installed the roof when it was 45 degrees? How does the homeowner confirm after the fact that the roofer didn't use staples on the under lay material, which voids the warranty? Roofing industry warranties seem to have a lot of variables that would not benefit the consumer/Homeowner.

Roofing Insights- do you have any suggestions or videos about ridge vent comparison? What to use in cold/snow climate zones.

Does the manufacturer suggest that you put nails in the lap like that?

Staples on synthetic paper is not good. We papered a new home real quick before some rain a few years back. Might as well not have papered the house at all because all the staples were dumping water. Had to replace the paper with cap nails. I know some dont leak with staples but its alot safer to just use platic caps.

Nice work with the basic install video guys! Quality work with a quality accessories will not produce warranty issues with Atlas shingles.

On hip and ridge why is there no double coverage under 1st piece laid? Cut a piece of hip and ridge in half using the piece with seal line placed at edge of ridge, then place first piece of hip and ridge over the half piece.
