I bought a 1985 KX 80 brand-new in Lancaster, CA for $1, 100 from my tax return that year. The best bang for buck I've ever spent. Rode in the High Mojave Desert a lot. Raced Sportbikes in the (mainly Decker) canyons of Malibu, with knobbies. Hint: Always downhill ; P Luckily I never got beat, but almost died a few times. Had SO much fun! I was 24, 5'8" and about 180lbs. That thing would also Trials like crazy. You could carry it out if you had to. You could blip the throttle like this guy was showing us, and swing it around 180deg and blast off💨 I would highly recommend one. Especially this model.💚🤘

Strange comparison, but interesting. Probably a few things missing is dry weight of these bikes, 2 stroke vs 4 stroke and base MSRP cost. All are pretty major factors. Thanks for the information!

the comparison really shows the seat to peg difference. don't be fooled by the tall seat height on the KX. it's a much smaller bike in reality, and not just because of the smaller wheels.

also note that we are showing the 21" front wheel version of the KLX. the 19" front KLX model uses the same frame, but the real world benefit of the bigger wheels is a huge deal. a taller rider who gets the 19" model by mistake would be hugely disappointed in how it handles the trails. the large wheels change everything for the better if you're taller.

My 14 yr old daughter rides a 22 KLX 140 w/ the 19” & 16” tires. It was really great to learn the clutch coming off the KLX 110. Great transition bike and so glad we bought it. Only prob was the clutch went out too fast. The big issue w/ the 140 is that it’s heavy and slow. I’m actually surprised how lazy it feels. That was great for a year, but now we looking to upgrade to the KX112 because it’s lighter and more power. Her friends (boys) are riding 250s and she just not tall enough to enjoy one. Also, the 140 will not handle a paddle tire. Does anyone have experience riding the 112 w/ a paddle tire at the dunes? For reference, my daughter is a pretty chill rider and very novice.

Great comparison cuz I was looking at both the bikes really appreciate it thanks. Think I'm going to go with the KLX more of just a trail Rider

This was a nice comparison. Both bikes are awesome though. But if I have to pick a bike here, it has to be the KX 112

If you do both motor cross and trail riding which bike is the right pick? I’m guessing the Kx112 but not sure.

Hey very nice comparison. How does the KX 112 compares in size to traditional 125 MX bikes ? is it smaller ?

So glad I went with the 112 so much faster you get no joy out of a slow bike

great video! can the klx112 do a mix of faster singletrack and technical enduro riding? i own a klx right now but its weight makes slow stuff harder

I have a kx85 large wheel I have someone trying to trade me a 2021 klx140 I’m looking to convert the bike into a super moto should I keep the 85 and convert that or do the trade and do it to the klx

Is it okay to put 21 and 18 size tires on kx 112?

Kx112 all day. Faster, lighter, nicer looking, better sounding, better suspension

These two are not even close for a comparison. One is 2-stroke and the other is 4-stroke. A 2-stroke makes a lot more horse than a similar size 4-stroke. KX112 is probably similar in power to KLX250-300, I would say.

The 16 and 19 inch wheels would be a whole different ride than the 18 and 21 inch wheels. I'll take the bigger wheels, the kickstand, the electric start, the more affordable price, and the four stroke motor over the two stroke personally. They should have put full size wheels on the 112.

Never seen a klx 140 with a 21" front I thought they are 19/16 or 17/14

There is literally zero comparison other than size between these two bikes. If you're a new rider with no experience the KX112 is going to hurt you.
