The machines are set to 230v because if you don't change it to 110v in the USA, it won't damage the machine, just not operate properly. However, if they set it to 110v at the factory and you plugged it (in Europe) to 230v it would EXPLODE THE POWER SUPPLY. So it's the smart setting to prevent damage from the factory.

Z offset needs to be set to get the right amount of "squish" into the bed plate for proper adhesion. You can actually detect this quite well just running a finger over the freshly laid down filament at the start of a print. If light finger pressure slides the fresh filament out of place on the bed easily, then not enough "squish". But go slow in lowering, you don't want it overly squished out to be too thin either. You want to feel the line of filament laid down, but not be able to move it. Once you have it right, your finger will easily recognize it being in a good zone if you ever need to check when any print starts even over where it primes the nozzle or if you use a skirt for the print.

If no one gets you past needing to clean the bed so often, given that it has a magnetic bed under the surface, you can buy an aftermarket PEI coated spring steel bed for $20 or so. I have 3 printers with PEI coated beds and never do anything other than wipe dust off of them before printing (with one exception, to get ABS to stick, which wants to curl more than about any filament, I add a spritz of hair spray to it every few prints). But PEI beds grip like crazy, but since they flex like your current bed surface, the print pops off easily.

First, I loved that she said it was a tool! This is 100% the correct way to view and treat a 3D printer. I see far too many people treating it like it is a self-aware robot and then getting frustrated with the printer when it is a result of user error.

Second, her realization of age at 6:07 was the most real thing I have seen in a YouTube video in a while. As someone who turned 41 this year, I 1000% related with her just taking a moment to internalize her own age and perception of being young while the number out loud implies old(er) and (hopefully) wise(r).

Fyi everyone: Bed leveling and Tramming are the same thing. It's making sure the nozzle is the same distance from the surface at all points on the bed.

On the Ender the auto bed leveling doesn't adjust the bed. The BL touch measures any tilt/lows/highs of the bed surface and compensates for it during printing.

Manually leveling the bed first then running the auto level makes it far more effective.

Also every time you first turn on the printer, you should auto level before printing. This is because spring tension, the bed surface etc. can fluctuate over time and you want to compensate for it.

The Ender 3 V2 Neo was my first, and so far, only printer. It's very easy to set up, especially with the help of youtube. And she really should have been allowed to use youtube, because it shows everything you need to know to get a perfect first print.

Got my Ender 3 V2 this week too.
first ever 3D printer I've ever used. It took me some time to build it, but I went slow, and followed YouTube build guides instead of included instructions. I already got the CR Touch and did the Jyers firmware upgrade, PEI bed, upgraded the feeder to all metal parts, next is the stiffer bed springs. Great little printer.

So many of the same things I went through with my first printer! I enjoyed this. Also thanks for the shoutout 😂

Suggested edit @ 11:25 - Just buy an entirely new extruder. The fact that Creality is still shipping printers with the old Mk7 single-arm extruder is a travesty and highlights how much they are willing to value engineer everything down to a point of failure in order to save 0.01% profit at the expense of the user experience. This mindset is the reason I got rid of all my Creality machines and refuse to buy anything from them for the last three years.

I just bought this printer, it hasn't arrived yet, it's the first one I've bought for 3D, I really hope I don't have problems, I want to enjoy designing and printing, so if I have any problems I hope you can help me, the video is excellent, thank you.

Yep, every Ender I’ve had came set to the higher volts. Good catch.

Hey, at least your wife actually had a go at building the 3D printer. That's something that my wife would not do nomatter what I the situation is. I've tried many, many times over our 27 years of being together to get her just to even have a go at building something anything, in fact. Over the years, I have spent with my wife I've tried to convince her to build something but unfortunately she alway's tells me that's she's no good at building things even when she has instructions to show how to make it, now the comical thing about this is I have actually caught my wife looking at instructions for step by step pictures of how to put things together and even then she gives up and I'm the one who ends up building the thing in question. I honestly just wish that she had the confidence just to give it a go and if she didn't succeed then ask me for help instead of just being a total defeatist when it comes down to doing these things!!! Congrats to your wife not for actually building the printer but for actually being in the right frame of mind to even have a go REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE RESULTS WOULD BE!!!😉

HOLD UP. The V2 Neo comes with a metal extruder. It's that an error??

I am a new follower. I saw you on Jonny Builds secret closet door video.
Now you have a new fan.
I love how Karen was game to do it herself, on camera.
When I finally make the leap to get my own 3D printer I will be better prepared.
