Briton given death sentence for fighting against Russia

Strange how breaking the Geneva convention is such a big thing now it's Russia but when it was US/UK who were each guilty of numerous breaches in Iraq that was never an issue

I found his Facebook, and it seems he joined the Ukrainian Marine Corps in December 2018.

This is why foreigners shouldn't go to these places. He'll either end up as a huge propaganda tool for the Russians or the government will end up giving alot to get them back. Either way the benefit that he's given Ukraine is less than the harm that will come from this imo

Aslin was a mercenary in Syria and arrested upon return to the UK. During trial he was on bail, left the country for Ukraine, and started fighting in Ukraine…the Ukraine government has signed up Polish citizens to the Ukraine Army in the last month, its a sham, its simply designed to circumvent laws and try to provide the POW protections under the Geneva Convention to combatants who are essentially mercenaries.

So many misinformed comments on here. All those that think the two Brits travelled to Ukraine in February to join a foreign legion of fighters are wrong. These guys lived in Ukraine and decided bravely to defend their adopted homeland from an aggressive illegal invader. The trial, like the war is an illegal show trial, the sentences go against international law and the Geneva Convention, they are POW and should be have been treated as such!
