My language bookshelf

My language bookshelf is filled with I some really interesting books about linguistics and learning new languages. So I thought I would share it with you today. I know it's ironic because I normally do most of my videos sitting in front of a different bookshelf. However, the majority of my nonfiction language books are on a different bookshelf in my house, and that's why I'm in a different room in this video.

Anyways, this video is all about some of the books I have accumulated about languages and linguistics. I go through and briefly review each one just in case you are interested in any of the specific books in my library, or similar books pertaining to the language you are learning.

I love language books.
Even if I'm not learning the language, they help keep that "spark" of the language learning passion alive in me. :)

You have a great collection of book! Goals. Your Spanish linguistics books look interesting. I loved my Spanish phonetics and phonology course in college and it really did help me improve my accent! Maybe you can make some videos explaining some basic linguistic concepts for the layperson.

I always subscribe to languages' channels! Nowadays I'm diving in the big sea of 7 languages such as chinese arabic russian thai farsi hebrew sanskrit and hindi.

Great video! I'd be interested in seeing a tour of the actual content you read when you're learning languages. You've mentioned The Little Prince and other books here and there in other videos, but it would be nice to see a full tour!

You mean the average person would not be interested in your copy of Carnie's syntax? :) I'm happy I've been using the same blue book to get tips on teaching English, and the same book for English syntax! English is my L2 but I've been studying philology in this language, and it's fun to see that in my uni here in Spain we use the same books. I've just discovered your channel because I wanted some encouragement to continue learning languages through reading, and it turns out I've been doing that extensive + intensive reading thing you mention in another couple of videos, without knowing it!! This is a great channel, thanks for sharing your library with us!! I'll very likely find and read that "second language acquisition" book you show us here, it seems promising!!

Es difícil hablar sin acento, pero hay gente que lo ha logrado, tendrías que ver el canal de un youtuber de U.S.A, se llama Dustin Luke. Además el tiene amigos que también hablan sin acento porque vivieron en Argentina.

Pretty cool collection Aron! Though you don’t seem to have any Romanian learning books 🧐 That’s weird cause i recall watching one of your videos where you talk about your journey in learning limba română

Never heard of Igbo? Read some Chimmamanda Ngozi Adiche books (I loved "The Half of The Yellow Sun"). Her grandparents talked this language. Interesting shelf really. But very academic one I would say. Mine is more focused on practical learning content-coursebooks, phrasebooks, dictionaries of idioms, dictionaries of collocatons, grammar books. All in 6 various languages. You should really jon Russian Fb - V Kontakte (vk). Has plenty of social groups for learners of various foreign languages. With vidoes like this is a good idea to add link to each book in the description below. You could benefit from affiliated links, plus some look really interesting to me. Like this on about learning Spanish from French or French from Spanish and the Handbook of the IPA. I know about the book teaching German through English written by a Polish author but haven't used it yet. I can see You're into books on phonetics but I would recommend studies or books on comparative grammar. They are also very helpful.

I'm a fan of John McWorther's courses and books. What do you think of him and his books?

Reading and learning don't seem nerdy for me, you don't look like that at all. Why do you call yourself that ? Actually I enjoy your passion and I find some good tips in your videos. You are not a nerd, you are an inspiration to me, thanks.

I really enjoy your videos. As you may have noticed, I am finishing up all your videos. Can you review the Pimsleur Approach? I am thinking about using it because I have more time listening to audios than other approach of learning.

I know I’m quite a few months late, but I would love to see an in-depth video of the book at 20:00. I am currently learning Spanish (my level is almost b2), and I’m to the point to where I would love to start polishing my accent. I know I cannot magically sound Mexican, but I would love to see what this book could do! Thanks!

I don't agree with the idea l2 accent is impossible as I've met polish and Russian people with Manchester accent's who moved as adults.

Ecspecially - An idiot's pronunciation of the word especially. While the origin of the extra "c" is unknown, this particular pronunciation is surprisingly popular considering how ridiculous it sounds. (www.urbandictionary.com)
