Cutting compound is sanding. It’s still an abrasive that removes material

"No Sanding, " begins to Sand 😂

Cutting compound has grit like sandpaper and he's using an orbital tool with an abrasive pad. I think most people would still describe that process as sanding.

I’m still sanding, and getting down to the bare lense, cleaning it well, and applying a fresh clear coat. I will never change to another method. It has lasted for a few years, and I’ve been making good money.

This guy isn’t stupid, he knew you would all call him out.

Bruh. Aggressive cutting compounds are just an abrasive and do the same thing as sandpaper just less aggressive

Without a UV protection, that lens will dull over even quicker than before. Ceramic polish doesn't provide UV protection.

“No sanding” proceeds to wet sand with a rotary polisher.

You bought 3 months of time of clear head lights, great job.

No 2 part clear coat= faded and shitty in 6-7 months. At least here in AZ

Cut compound is the same as sanding just you used it with a polisher and instead of sand is using another type of abrasive.

Ceramic isin't going to last long by itself. I always put clear PPF and it lasts for upto a year or even more. It doesn't get foggy, just gets scratched.

What others said about not sanding. Also, that ceramic coating will need to be regularly reapplied in order to maintain a clear headlight lens cover. You should have hit it with a couple layers of quality clearcoat for a longer lasting clear finish.

No sanding….proceeds to use an orbital polisher/sander LOL

Nevermind the whole compound is sanding argument. The headlight was 100x sanded before they polished. I've never seen a headlight fade so uniformly.

You know polishing compound is just liquid sandpaper right?

I used Windex with ammonia in it, I used prepsol, I used chrome polish, it worked beautifully and to seal it or protect it, I put xpel clear ppf and so far it stays clear for more than a year .

I thought this was a useful video and left you a like. However, like most of the comments seem to be saying, using a heavy cut compound with a buffer or orbital handtool is essentially the same thing as sanding. I think the video without "no sanding" comment would have been well received. Useful video nonetheless

You can call me crazy, but I do it cheaply. I buy a cheap toothbrush, $1 tube of Pepsodent toothpaste, and brush the headlight with it. Rinse and done. Just did it on the wife's 2001 Ranger with 400k miles on it. Lenses look new. Go on, laugh, but try it. You'll only be out a dollar!

you can only do this so many times before the plastic thins out and becomes super fragile and cracks. Protecting it is your best option over sanding often.
