How to Grip a Forehand in Disc Golf (6 Tested Grips)

Показать описание
In this video, we delve into one of the most crucial aspects of the game: the forehand grip. Your grip determines the trajectory and control of your throws, making it essential to find the right fit for your game. While many players stick to a single grip they've seen the pros use, we're here to encourage exploration and experimentation.

We'll guide you through six staple forehand grips, providing detailed explanations and visual demonstrations of each. By understanding the unique benefits and potential drawbacks of each grip, you'll gain valuable insights into how they can enhance or hinder your performance on the course.

It's important to note that there's no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to grip. What works for one player may not work for another due to differences in hand size, comfort, and throwing style. That's why we emphasize the importance of testing and adapting until you find the grip that feels natural and yields the best results for you.

Whether you're a beginner looking to establish a solid foundation or a seasoned player seeking to fine-tune your technique, this video provides a comprehensive guide to help you unlock the full potential of your forehand throws.

Remember, the key to success lies in experimentation and finding what works best for you.

Tried em all but it's the One Finger Grip all day.
Puts my wrist in a better position that promotes more wrist mobility, thus, theoretically, more Snap.
It also gives me smoother release, better distance, increased accuracy, and less wobble.
The One Finger allows my wrist to cock back significantly more than any other grip. Again...more Snap.

Being an ex baseball pitcher I thought for sure a 2 Finger would feel and work best, but I always come back to the One Finger.

Everyones hands are a little different tho, so trying each til you find what feels, and works best is a must.
Don't just try one throw and dismiss any of the grips. Try them all multiple times. I mean unless you feel completely comfortable with one of them from the start. Being comfortable with your grip, whether forehand or backhand, goes a long way towards bettering your game.

I just started playing and I''m overthinking and forgot how to throw forehand. This video will help a lot just like your other videos.

Havent seen anyone use my grip on youtube. 1 finger with the middle on the wing. I think this is a hand size thing but i get waaaay better release and nose angle that way. Been throwing it for my not quite full power shots for over 15 years and its oretty damn accurate. Get about 275 - 300 on it so its serviceable. You should give that ome a shot.

I am forehand dominant for max distance drives. 1 finger feels the most comfy for me I have a really hard time changing/trying new grips for forehand but always willing to try a new grip for back hand. My 1 finger grip is different than yours though I rest my middle finger on the bottom of the rim not tuck it like you showed in this video

I do a couple variations of the two finger snd fan... but I dont generally tuck the frisbee all the way into my crease by my thumb.

I just recently started using a 3 finger grip for the forehand putts from crazy positions and have seen a crazy increase in consistency and accuracy for the putt level power shots.

I just now realized my grip changes for the situation... I've noticed that the forehand grip of others is like others holding a pencil, see?

Beautiful Wraith by the way.

I use rarely the forehand, when I use it (usually with the Lat 64 River) I find good for now the two fingers grip with the bent index finger.

I do a one finger grip, but slightly modified from what you showed. I put my index finger inside the rim and my middle finger laying across the bottom of the wing

Been using the super finger without knowing it was a thing. It just felt best when I put my fingers that way and was able to throw it far and accurate lol

Excellent info! I can’t wait to try the various grips. I’m not that good at forehand yet, but will try to see what works for me! Thank you!

for the split finger grip, which finger is the main finger / last finger to come off the disc?

Andrew Marwede is one of the best forehanders in the world and uses the 1 finger grip. I've noticed that most old school disc golfers laugh at the 1 finger grip and also can't break 250 feet with their forehand. The angle control comes from a tight grip. It's the most natural way to throw imo.

One finger kinda guy, I’m back hand dominant anyway but I throw some good flicks with one finger

"Monkey Paw" no fingers used only the thumb and the knuckle of the pointer finger. Super clean release, helps make adjustments to bad releases, and gets pretty good distance.

Try the split finger but only with your index finger in that position

Man I get so much more spin when I put the pads of my finger tips on the rim, instead of the flight plate.
