Hoover was seen as one of the most promising up and coming presidents of his day, and had a bold agenda which seemed like a balancing of old Progressive and Conservative policies to achieve a new Progressivism, however, the Great Depression broke out, and robbed us of a good Hoover presidency.

Hoover could’ve been based with a moderate version of Corporatism, but alas history had other plans. RIP Hoover’s potential.

Hoover would have been a good president if he had been elected president in 1920.

No, Hoover was a radical. He rejected his predecessor, Harding's solution to the 1921 crash. Oh and if you never heard of the 1921 crash that's because Harding fixed it. Same solution could have been applied to 1929.

Yeah Herbert hoover really is one of those peoples who really could have done a lot but did so at the WORST possible time like imagine if he had run in 1920 instead of 1928

The Philippines would have not become independent by 1946 under a Hoover 2nd term though. He vetoed the Hare-Hawes-Cutting Act that will give the Philippines its independence by 1946. Though the Congress overrode his veto, the law was rejected in the Philippine Congress in 1933 due to lack of Hoover's support. The law needs both countries (USA and the Philippines) approval in order to be implemented.

I think Hoover wanted to keep the Philippines as colony in order to help America recover from the Great Depression and have a strategic foothold in the other side of the Asia-Pacific region without the intervention of an independent Philippine government.

In 1934, FDR signed the Tydings-Mcduffie Act that will put the Philippines under a commonwealth for 10 years starting in 1935 until July 4, 1946.

have a young Kaiser Wilhelm meeting the young princess when they're teenagers she gets pregnant and they get married within a few years she eventually become empress interesting scenario
