I think Chromatics likes to do covers of male sung alternative/new wave songs because Ruth lends a gentle, pleasant feminine voice to them. Songs like Ceremony (Joy Division) and this one by Jesus and Mary Chain. Well done! Plus Johnny Jewel like to do the classic guitar riffs.

What meaning do you guys give to the lyrics if I may ask? I heard many things and it goes probably down to personal interpretation, but I always saw them as coming from a very dark corner: (serial) killer and prey. It would fit the tone of Closer to Grey imo. Kill for Love felt like made for a movie hunting down a killer, Closer to Grey feels like being there before and during the crime, very haunting and very, very Lynchian.
