How to Update CFW on a Jailbroken PS3

Need to update your firmware version on your PS3 to the latest release? Wanting to try out another custom firmware? There's been some confusion over the process since making a few jailbreak tutorials, but thankfully this tutorial has you covered! Updating or switching your CFW on a jailbroken PS3 is quite easy to do, all you need is your new CFW of choice and a flash drive formatted to FAT32 to install the new CFW from!

This tutorial does assume you have already jailbroken your PS3 and have a basic understanding of how to do it. This will NOT work if your PS3 is not jailbroken and this tutorial is not intended for HAN or HEN consoles. Following this tutorial on a PS3 running official firmware will not jailbreak it. I found a ps3 with rogero 4.46 installed in my brother's house, he kindly gave it to me, but couldn't play tales of xillia because of old firmware. Thanks to you my ps3 modded is up to date ;)

Went from Kmeaw 3.55 to Rebug 4.86.1 lite.... So sketchy. It finished copying the update and my screen went blank, nothing for 20 mins straight. I thought either it switched to rca or I bricked it. I ended up yolo'ing it and hit the power switch and turned it back on. It went through the restore screen and rebooted into rebug. That was a scary experience.
