How I Organize My Garden Seed Collection-Vegetables And Flowers

I just recently emptied out 4 plastic grocery bags worth of seed packets I had purchased between 2003-2015. Most were hermetically sealed. I could not bring myself to throw them away. I threw them on our sunny side yard for the birds to eat. So many of the seeds sprouted to my surprise. I am so glad they weren't a complete waste of time or money.

I have all of mine in a box; I really need to organize them by category like you did. The collection grows each year! I think I will try a seed swap sounds like fun!

Wow that's a lot of seeds, but organized well! I just have my seeds in a plastic container. I went through a real "organizationy" phase a few years ago and I started making labels for seeds and trying to sort them in baseball card sleeves.

Christa, I hear you on the tomatoes, but I think you have got me beat! I always give older seeds a try by germination testing them on a wet paper towel and put them into a ziplock to see if they will sprout for me. Those boxes are very nice. Thanks for sharing! Catherine

I tape my seed envelopes with clear packing tape. This way if I drop the envelope or it gets wet it’s protected. It is also more sturdy so opening them is easier.
