This reminds me of something I was told when I toured the Portland Trailblazers stadium and facilities. They actually did the opposite of this: they made their opponents too comfortable. They'd provide the best facilities possible, including a smorgasbord of fattening foods for them to eat. Their goal was to lull the opposition into a false sense of security, killing them with kindness, essentially.

I was at the AZ Alkmaar stadium once and they said that when the stadium was renovated, they did everything except the away locker room. Quite funny because you could see very clearly that it was around 30 years older than the rest

This is all true. I took a tour there. He mentions how the home dressing room's lighting is adjusted to the pitches light outside but what he doesn't say is that the away room has it's lights dimmed so the player's eyes are forced to adjust to the lower light and as such be out of focus when they come back onto the pitch. Even the TV is off center to the room so some players can't view it properly.

In the US some teams painted the opposing teams locker room pink vecause it makes you more relaxed. Unfortunately the league banned the practice and now all teams have to have the same amenities.
