Sampler Sew Along Intro | Quilt Block of the Month Series | Whitney Sews

Then this Sample Sew Along Series is perfect for you! I'll be posting step-by-step videos showing exactly how to cut and sew together 12 traditional style quilt blocks. Each block will measure 12 inches square when sewn together in the finished quilt. This larger block size is perfect for newer quilters. I will also post additional videos showing how to take those 12 blocks and sew them into a completed quilt.

You will need -
10-12 color fabrics - fat quarters or quarter yard cuts
A base fabric (I chose a white tone on tone low volume print) - a couple of yards

Whitney, I wanted to share with you that my quilting group is doing your sampler series as a Quarantine "Block of the Week" Challenge. We meet weekly via the internet to share progress. Of the 16 people participating, skill levels range from new quilters to very experienced art quilters. Everyone is enjoying the blocks. One person is adding three dimensional elements, others are using stash fabrics, solids or another style that is new to them. I am making my blocks very simple to practice free motion quilting when they are put together. Thank you for creating the videos and sharing them with the quilting community.

I have a question about the materials, you mentioned using the bright multicolored fabric as your inspiration for all the colors you chose so that they would all mesh and look good together, will the inspiration fabric be used in the sampler piecing or are you going to use it for your backing?
