Every Renewable Energy Certificate (MA Class I REC) purchased and retired by Concord Light reduces the supply of RECs available other state utilities need to comply with the Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS). Concord's purchase of REC forces other utilities to pay the Alternative Compliance Payment (ACP) or invest in additional renewable generation in the New England market to make more RECs. This is how Concord is being additive to renewable in New England. If Concord Light has a financially favorable opportunity to more directly contribute to the construction of renewable energy generation, I'm sure it will do so.
