Remembering Bob Barker, 'The Price is Right' host dead at 99

Bob Barker died Saturday as his home in California. The legendary game show host entertained fans for more than 50 years. CBS New York's Dana Tyler reports.

I remember Bob Barker when I first watched him on Monday September 4th 1972. And I've loved him ever sense. I almost met him in 1983 basically he was in town but it was fun and games show here in the Seattle area and that's how I almost ended up meeting him in the first place. And now here it is 2023, Bob Barker may you rest in peace. I know one thing for sure he got close to a hundred without going over! Show all I can say is May God rescue Bob Barker you are the greatest of all time as far as game shows are concerned.

I learned to understand English watching him on tv in the 70s. He spoke very slowly while explaining games that I could applied the few words learned in class like numbers, yes, no, please … thinks like that. I’m French Canadian and grew up in area far from Montreal so, we did not hear or interact with people speaking English. Tv was our only way, if interested in an other language, to learn English. So Bob Barker did help me a lot. Rest in peace.

My parents will be giving him a warm welcome when he gets up there, as they really liked him. The game show hosts that have gone on before will be there to greet him, too.

A friend of mine did prison time several decades ago for a nonviolent charge. He was telling us how bob barker had a company that made shirts, toothpaste, and other essentials for them. I think it meant a lot to the prisoners that he put his name on these items and was respectful & supportive of them. People with prior felony convictions are mostly very different than we imagine.

Yep it’s confirmed the number 99 is cursed if you make it to 99 you have a 99% chance of dying before you make it to 100 ironically and I would know as I lost a great grandmother at that age too. God it really sucks to make it so close to being 100 years old only to just miss becoming a Centenarian when will it end? I don’t know but I do know that it won’t end anytime soon unfortunately.
