The 5-star ACs are more energy-efficient than a 3-star AC unit. The electricity consumption of a 5-star AC (1.5 tons) is approximately 1.5 units per hour, whereas a 3-star AC (1.5 tons) consumes 1.6 units every hour.

Assuming the Average Life of AC to be 10 years, it would only make sense to buy the 5 star AC if the upfront cost between 5 star and 3 star is less than 7000.

However if you stay in relatively cooler places like Himachal, Sikkim, Shillong, etc where the need for AC isn't too long. It won't make sense to opt for a 5 Star AC (strictly from cost point of view).

Sometimes shopkeeper give AC of 5 star rating according to previous years rating whereas in recent times it won't stand as a 5 star one

Let's assume you use AC 10 hours a day It means There's a difference of 0.1×10 = 1 unit a day i.e - Around 180 units if you use it half of an year, Average cost of electricity 7Rs/ unit, Therefore 1260 RS /year is what you save, So for 7-8 years you will recover the cost

If one is living in Southern india there is no much winter. We will hav to use AC for more than 8-10 month easily. Except monsoons season. So 5 star will be better

5 star acs save more than 90rs per month. Real difference is huge in inverter ACs. A 1.5 ton 5star ac has better condenser and more efficient blowers. Even the compressor is more heavy duty. All this translates to faster cooling and sooner the load drops., in our hotel and home there are multiple kinds of ACs and Inverter acs save almost 500rs each month. For 7months its 3500.. so within 3 years you start gaining

i guess it depends upon use. if one use around 12 to 15 hours he should buy 5 star and if one use less than 10 hours then 3 star is good. also there is very less discount in winters and it is advisable to buy AC just before Summers cause at that time you'll get newly made models and installation person also install it within a day. and why not forget the warranty it'll start when you use it. 👍

If you go dor a 3 star AC, firstly you will see a different of indoor and outdoor bcz the 5 star model is more larger than 3 star. Hence cooling is faster,
Next if we ralk about condenser, mostly copper condenser comes in 5 star but in 3 star due to cost cutting, it comes with aluminium.(in most cases)
Hence better cooling
If you want to be satisfied with your soul, please buy 5 star because 3 stars have also some disadvantages.

This is good example non engineering background. Use always 5 star rating becz eer is change every year by indian gov. Even small values change in eer creates big difference in electronicall bill. To understand for common man the star rating is created. So use 5 star rating Ac with double inverter.

All of u, Please understand the technical terms behind appliances. Always check the Watts behind the all the appliances and then calculate the electricity. Examples if appliance watts is 20 watts means it will consume 20 watts if u use that appliance for one hour continuesly. And our electricity always calculates in kWh means kilo watts per hour, which is equals to unit means. If ur electricity rate is 1kWh = 1 Unit = 5 rupees means if u use 2000 watts electricity it will come 10 rupees.
