I am not able to repeat this pattern for long page ( using it as background for some content using z-index). Its height is not increasing more than display size despite of being a long page.
Can u help me?

This isn’t a hexagon grid, it’s a grid using a hexagon svg.

Despite you writing in the title (quick tutorial) I don't really think this is a tutorial. You didn't explain anything about the logic behind any of that, the code isn't even commented with anything useful to actually understand the code. You basically just copy pasted some code into a codepen and provided source code. If this is a tutorial then literally anyone on codepen or github is doing tutorials all the time.
Which is sad cause I was actually *precisely* looking for this, but I wanted an actual tutorial. Someone who explained something about the code so that I understand it and can easily edit it to match my needs.
