How Lightning Occurs | Toppr

During a thunderstorm, when a charged cloud passes over an uncharged cloud, an uncharged cloud acquires the opposite charge by induction and the two clouds attract. When they combine with each other, they produce a large amount of heat, light, and sound also known as lightning. Lightning can occur between clouds or between clouds and ground.

Why the negative charges present at the bottom of clouds are making the ground positively charged?

I've learnt that two things when rubbed against each other get electrified if those are made of dissimilar materials. How does the ice get electrified then? I'm confused! Please explain.

Can anyone explain me,
1. Why positively charged particles goes upward?
2. Is resistance between upper and lower part of cloud higher than that of between cloud and earth. That it neutralize by getting cahrge from earth?
3. Means after lightning coulds are positively charged? I don't think so.

But we can't see the negative charged particle electron spurts (Our Eyes can't see it). What we see is the Ground to Cloud lightning.
Types of lightinings are -
1. Cloud to Ground ( which our eyes can't see)
2. Ground to Cloud (which we normally see)
3. Cloud to cloud (which is that lightning which doesn't hit the ground)
