The TILTA Mini Matte Box MISSING LINK for VARIABLE ND FILTERS

So a few weeks ago I purchased the Tilta Mini Follow Focus only to find out that it doesn't work with most Variable ND Filters from companies like B+W, Tiffen, and Polarpro. After a little research, I found the perfect solution to get your Variable Neutral Density Filters to work with your Tilta Tiltaing Matte Box.

Thanks for this video man! 👊🏻we can say that if we use promist or uv filters we don’t need to buy the extension ring, cause it will do the same work as the extension do for this situation.

Great vid and research, juts FYI: I have the 77mm Tiffen variable nd. the front diameter is around 86mm > 82mm （the back ring of mini matte box）so it still doesn't fit. From the vid, b+w counterpart works b/c of a front diameter < 82mm

Hi! I have a sigma 18-35mm art for canon (72mm). I use a Tiffen black pro mist 72mm, and I want to use at the same time the K&F Concept 72mm Variable ND Filter. Should I get one of those 72mm female to male adapter to use with the mini matte box included 72mm adapter? Will it work? The black pro mist 72mm, the VND 72mm and the included 72mm adapter of the mini matte box altogether?

Great idea! Unfortunately, it didn't work out too well for my specific situation. When shooting outside, I tend to use a Polarizer and ND Filter. I found it difficult to stack filters with this matte box. To solve this, I just clunked down the cash to buy the PolarPro Basecamp Matte Box Kit. This allows me to use a Polarizer with two variable ND options (2-6 or 6-9). Its a more costly solution, but it sure makes it easier and faster when working in the field.

Got the extension filter and the 82mm VND is still too big for the "opening" of the mattebox, doesn't reach the thread. Don't use your Variable ND filter for 82mm thread, several brands won't work (tried Simmod and Tiffen)

i have the tiffen variable ND and the exterior side does not let you screw on any other step up ring or adaptor. Is there a solution to this? Since the diamater of the mini matteboxe is smaller then the ND filter.

Just came across this video about the mini matte box. This solutions is simple and cheap. But how do you like working with the vnd like this? Is it still rotating good and smooth? stuff like that.
