Athearn Genesis 2.0 Dash 9 BNSF 5146 Review

Very handsome and impressive GE dash 9 locomotive model from the Athearn Genesis series, the dash 9 locomotive is a common freight engine and this model is highly detailed. Athearn has really improved their locomotive model details and lighting features over the past 5 years, and the Genesis 2.0 series has produced many incredible locomotive models with improved accurate detail features and this GE dash 9 model is fantastic.

The windshields are noticeably too small, blue box sized. Shame on Athearn for that.

I think you made a good pick on the DC version, installing ESU will turn it with their sound file into something way more fun to operate

Athearn did an awesome job on this model(late version) but I feel that if I'm paying over $225(non sound) for one locomotive, Athearn could've installed a "power booster"(keep-a-live) compassitor to help with dead spots and dirty track. For me, it's a turn off but again, Athearn did a great job.
