I have total respect for Sig Hansen aswell as his beautiful daughter Mandy & Nina. An his WHOLE family. As it takes a strong family to thrive in this dangerous lifestyle. His wife has also always been supportive of his work & lifestyle. An his brother is a big asset too. As his skills as deck boss are impressive. They are the strongest family out of ALL the characters in Deadlest Catch. It's heartwarming to see how ALL the boat crews support an help each other out in times of need. The main thing I remember about Sig from that show was that in literally everything he was incredibly professional and knowledgeable. From the way he treated his crew and difficult decisions as to weather or fishing strategy etc you could just see that brain ticking over and I don’t remember a time he didn’t come up with a result that would pay the bills at worst but usually would yield great results. You could tell his crew had a deep respect for him as his orders came across mostly as almost suggestions and then his guys would dig in and do exactly what he asked them to do without question. A true Captain. 👍👍

I was at Diamond Joes Casino at least 10-12 years ago in Iowa. They had Sig and one of the other Captains talking, as standard form, the Sea Captains were Drinking and there was some colorful language, the Casino manager runs up on stage and tells sig to knock down the profanity, Sig tells" him What did you expect with an open bar at a casino to two sea captains?
