Niki Lauda said in one of his last interviews that racing consumed his life. His children, his wife and loved ones too a backseat to racing. Nico reaching the pinnacle of auto racing and then turning his focus away from racing for his family is very commendable.

Considering how much hair Seb had lost, I’d say Nico made the right decision.

I can't help but respect his decision.

Imagine having a wife that you can barely spend any time with.
For 8-9 months of the year you're constantly travelling, and constantly focused on your job. It would consume you.

Now imagine, you reach the pinnacle of your career. There is no higher achievement, and it took years of battling Lewis to get there.

Do you continue living the life of sacrifice, for another uncertain chance of winning?

Or do you quit while you're on top. Choose to live life on your own terms.
Spend time with your wife and be there to raise your child(ren).
Spend some time resting and reflecting on the commitment, sacrifice and success of 11 years in F1.

For Nico, it sounds like he made the perfect choice.

Epic save on the "Retire early" question.
And retiring after doing something for 21 years regardless of age, is a long time.

You know, I've got to give rosberg credit, beating lewis literally took everything he had. While people like to criticize lewis for his lifestyle, the mere fact that he can do the things he does and still compete at the highest level is a testament to his prodigious talent.

Rosberg telling truth. "I was a bit tired. 21 years of racing. I realised that beating Lewis the next year would take everything out of me. He is just better and handles pressure better so beating him again is a fight i probably cant win. Now is a time to retire at the highest point of my career"
Thats ok Nico. Nothing to be ashamed of. Your a great humble guy. People understand and respect you for it.

Lives in Monaco. Family has really well financial sense, and he got an F1 championship. Looks like a good plan. Lucky guy who capitalized on his good fortune and good for him.

It takes a real man to make that decision while at the top of your game. I take my hat off to you too Nico.

Nico winning the 2016 championship was gutting for me as a Lewis Hamilton fan. But Nico's accomplishments must not be diminished. He was a superb ambassador for Mercedes before their rise. He speaks many languages eloquently. Most (not all😆) of his analysis of #F1 is fair and balanced. His love for his family is evident. My wish is that in my lifetime he and Lewis will overcome the hurt they have had to put on each other to become the best of the best. Well done Nico and may your life be abundant and fulfilled 💜

Rosberg has that old money class and he’s super humble about it.

Rosberg and Hamilton made F1 more entertaining, I missed the rivalry, the close encounters

This is why I believe Hamilton is mentally the strongest between the two is because Lewis refuses to settle down. That's why I think Vettel and Kimi both took a fall was because they had families. I don't see Lewis marrying until he's done racing because he sees it as a distraction. I don't know if that's healthy but it keeps him winning.

Awesome achievement but he clearly either couldnt or didnt want to continue at that level of focus and dedication. He is a family man and he has made a good decision. lewis H has a different life focus and everything revolves around F1 for him and for Nico it evidently doesnt. He has done the right thing.

He quit at the top. Can't really argue with that. Respect.
