It’s impressive that BioWare was able to add the player attending a ball and taking part in political intrigue, and make it fit with a story about stopping a mad god and his army of demons. I really enjoyed that mission

BioWare asked Trevor Morris to compose something that captured the essence of Orlais.... and he most certainly delivered....

I absolutely love this song. It really captures how Orlais is at once decadent and affluent, but also a force to be reckoned with and never underestimated.

Bioware still owes us the entire city of Val Royeaux.

If I walk while listening to this I can’t help but walk very prim and proper, it makes me feel like I’m at a ball even though I know I’m walking through my house in my pajamas and shark slippers

Absolutely loved playing "The Game" and waltzing on the grand ballroom floor. The music definitely did an excellent job of making me feel like I was transported to a whole different time. Beautiful work.

In Dragon Age: Origins, the Orlesians were a distant, unseen power; a stereotype of a decadent court with an apparent fixation on fashion, and not much else.

Come Inquisition, they are a rich and fascinating culture with an instantly recognizable look, feel and sound that makes you feel transported to another time and place.

This, I feel, is what sums up the difference between Origins and Inquisition. Origins was a fun and intelligent reconstruction of the fantasy genre, but Inquisition is so much better at maintaining your suspension of disbelief.

Musically, this plays a very insidious trick on us, worthy of Orlais. The music for Dragon Age: Origins in particular was basically "timeless epic" with a strong streak of Tolkien-ian underscore. And actual Fereldenian music as played in taverns is modelled strongly on what most people think medieval music sounded like.

This here cleverly uses a musical anachronism by borrowing heavily from 17th-century French music (the cembalo and string theme could almost be by Charpentier or Lully). In our minds, that basically causes us to automatically think "more modern music, so more developed". You don't even need to see the surroundings to know it will be a far cry from the half-timbered houses of Redcliffe or Denerim.

This is a truly fantastic piece. It captures all of the aspects of Orlesian culture and I love how it makes you feel as though you are in Halamshiral participating in the Game... simply amazing.

Whenever I feel bad about having to wear facemask these days, I just imagine that I'm an Orlesian, though the masks we use cover the opposite part of the face than the ones that Orlesians use. And this song helps in building that imagination/self suggestion. LOL But hey, anything goes to survive in these mask wearing season that we're going through, right?

I like how this is just "Empress of Fire" done by an orchestra. Not that it's a bad thing.

i don't think i'll ever experience a moment in a video game quite as amazing as Dancing on the ballroom floor with the Gaspards sister while this song was playing, Exchanging remarks. truly a divine moment worthy of Dragon age origins legacy.

This is the music when you dance with Duchess Florianne (who is by the way the most badass evil female character  in the game).

Funny story. Me and some friends play D&D from time to time. My friend planned a longer campaign for us where we got to be part of building our own characters personality and back story.
I built a Princess named Kimie who comes from kingdom where the leaders have been quite evil and ruthless. Anywhoo we allso got to choose theme songs for our characters. I chose this song from Dragon age inquisition. And when this song played when I had to face my Prince brother who hated me it matched so perfect. I do love Dragon age series music.

This theme is so stunning--I can imagine it being played at a fancy concert in Val Royeaux. As much as I want to identify with Ferelden, I have to admit that I'd be that one Fereldan who studied in Orlais and went native because this music is just that damn good.

I have vietnam flashbacks from this track, my game had a bug where I couldn't even get passed the intro cutscene into trespasser and after the cutscene would end I would be in the cutscene moving like in the open world but the time was frozen and everything was so bright I could barely see what was going on. I had to reload, uninstall and reinstall the game for it to finally work, I play on Xbox one and this bug happened to me like 3 months ago lol

Edit: but the music is very good when I don't have to worry about it crashing my whole game lol

If anyone else is Critical Role fans, I always imagine this song playing when the party goes to Nicodranas. It matches so well!
