So does the battery become thicker with charging?

Pretty much all batteries are swelling("breathing") during charge/discharge
I wonder how the ceramic will hold up overtime, it feels like it will form cracks
This will either show in accelerated aging or have a slightly higher safety risk(but only if the lithium gets exposed to an oxidiser)
I'm just think about the LMP-battery fire that Bluebus 5SE have had recently in Paris

I question the credibility of this video as soon as I hear the Anode being the negative side of the cell.

What's missing here is the downsides. If the description provided in this video was all there is then this technology would have taken over all markets long ago.

Fascinating. I've been studying electro-chemistry and cells a bit. I am still confirming if a conventional lithium ion battery is an electrolytic cell. I think it is. Electrolytic cells are an interesting beast. They need external electrical energy to first oxidize a "salt" in solution of energetic counter-ions, like sodium chloride for a basic example,

Then these dissociated cations and anions (Na + and Cl- for example) travel through the electrolyte and "plate" their respective opposite-charged electrodes. This sets up the electrodes (anode -> cathode) for a redox reaction, which all batteries undertake to deliver electricity through electron flow from site of oxidation(anode) and reduction (cathode).

The cathode and anode are initially neutral and inert, but when electricity is supplied to the cathode, it becomes - charged, while the anode by default becomes + charged in relation. This is all precursory setup The negative Cl- ion in this case plates the initially positive anode, and the Na+ plates the initially negative cathode. Now the anode can oxidize Cl- coming together to form neutral Cl and can give off electrons, and the cathode can reduce Na+ coming together to form neutral Na, keeping the reception of electrons and current flow.

So, how does all this mumbo-jumbo relate? It looks to me like lithium ions in solution with a salt in the conventional lithium ion battery as described, first plated along with carbon or some other counterion substrate at the anode, setting it up for oxidation and energy flow. But apparently, QS's battery understands that pure lithium metal plated by itself at a not-yet-existing anode with no counter-ion substrate to pair with at this anode, is much, much more energy dense and storing, and a faster build of that potential charge.

Weight is way less, recharge faster and travel longer distances.. Awesome 😎👍

Will building a SSB require roughly the same amount of lithium material as a Li-Ion / LFP battery?

Are they solid state batteries like everyone else says or is this different?

I dont like battieries ever seen the acid when it comes out...decades its against the law to throw a battery in the bin.

Because its to toxic for the rubbish tip... You gotta throw tour phones in a special bin itll start fires in the rubbish tip... Anyone nitice that decades now. Thats why ..
Cos the acids starts fires in rubbish dumps

Hardwired

i hate charging
batteries

I haaaate batteries ..
Why i have extension leads ... For my hard wired electrics.
Why id rather a petrol/gas

Prefered deisel 4wd ... Id like to work on deisel purified bio fuel mixtures. Itll have higher octane. Needs a lot of work. I wont be trying if only have one car ...well no car ... No point idiotos... Better be justice...but yeah... Decades you cant fix my limp ..
I need huge family intervention orders since i was 12 years old
...they crazy sick people as grandad said leave you in a flood and drink champagne on my money

Yeah thats hieght of sickness

I learned that anode is positive+ and cathode is negative - and the video it says the opposite

What is the name of the background music?

Been hearing about this since 2015. It's now 2022. If their are coming only in 2050, then this is all hype...

according to my electrochemical remarks I noted that it is the bonds which migrate not the ions but the latter migrate according to physicauchemical criteria and not electrical criteria IN some experiances the is no migration of ions

I have a better solution: INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE. ;-)

Why always that stupid background music?

Interesting. But have you actually made prototypes and actual proof of concept? Puncture test? Cold test?
