It’s sad knowing what really happened to all those kids. That boulder is basically sitting on top of the hole that would have been their escape, but because it’s there, anybody who tries to leave fuses into the boulder. That would explain all the blood.

What's more horrifying than the dead children is that even if everyone made it back safely they still wouldn't be remembered seeing as Isabella's upper half made it out, but her father still didn't recognize who she was.

The worst part for me was the description of Isabella's hopeless eyes as they stared ahead. Implied that maybe she wasn't killed instantly. Maybe she saw that she had made it back home but still couldn't "get" back home. She realized her fate and died a depressing death.

This is an amazing interpretation of my story! You've done an awesome job with it, honestly. Thanks a lot. Some people think the story is similar to "The Society" on Netflix. I just want to make clear I wrote this at the end of 2018 and now is the first time I've ever heard of that show (I don't have Netflix nor a television).

Anyway, thanks for this narration, I loved it!

a dreadful irony how they send all their children down to be saved, when they just end up being sent inside a rock. just imagine everyone gets deluded with the certainty that they can send their children to some kind of salvation, they do so with every child that is born, and then when all the people originally too big to enter die with age they end up unknowingly snuffing themselves out willingly while believing the opposite.

though probably most would be skeptical and end up forgetting about the hole, accepting the new earth as home

A year after first hearing this story and it still haunts me. The concept of the children going through the hole and the buckets of blood under the boulder connecting is a horror that literally chills you to the bone. Just utter dread from it.

The whole idea of the end of the story being at the beginning is so good.
There is a whole sense of hopefulness in the ending but then for us who know what happened next is just a big feeling of "oh god no"
