I've had lifelong friends where it went south. One I have reached out to, but refuses to men fences, and the other died at age 50. It unfortunately happens sometimes. These friends I was referring to I'd known since the 5th grade. So yes it sucks, but it can, and does happen. It's better to try and find common ground before its too late.
