it's funny how Roger Waters want to actually be a vocalist instead of playing any instrument

Since no one does, and no one even casually considers him, I want to fondly remember Steve Priest, Sweet's bass player... perhaps not the best in the world, but very talented, likeable and histrionic, and a good person, which counts for more than fame and limelight. Peace be upon him...❤

John Paul Jones over Chris squire is insane. JPJ is an underrated musician overall but as a bassists he’s rated well. Chris squire is brilliant in so many of yes’s songs

Very minor nitpick as a Queen fan, but since Another One Bites The Dust was released in 1980, I would have swapped his clip for his bass solo in Liar (1973)(Studio Music Vid or Rainbow Show). That song rocks!

Roger Glover must be in top 10. Do you heard the bassline of SOTW or highway star?

Paul McCartney is #2 behind Entwistle. That's a big oversight. But it's a pretty good list.

This list does not contain Paul McCartney and is therefore invalid. Unless the list is meant to be bassist who were exclusively relevant in the 70s, in which case, Entwhistle would surely have to be removed.

John Wetton, one of the greatest rock players for sure.

I don't understand why Noel Redding is never mentioned as one of the best bass players of his time

As a bassist myself, I don't think Roger Waters is among the top 10 bassists of the 70s. Most of the notable Pink Floyd basslines were actually played by David Gilmour. Waters was a solid player who could keep a groove ("Money" is his highlight), but on a technical level not very impressive. I feel the same about Dusty Hill of ZZ Top - a solid tight player, but he wasn't doing anything special. Personally, I would put John Deacon in my top 5 for his versatility. John Entwistle at no. 1 I'm not going to argue against. Him, Geddy Lee and Chris Squire are the most technical players of the 70s.

Zoom in a little more on Geezer's bass, I can almost see the individual cells
