Applying Tattoo Stencils (To Silicone Fake Skin)

Curious on how to apply stencils to fake practice skin??

In this video I share with you all my approach I take when applying tattoo stencils (to silicone fake skin)

Practice skin is a very good material to practice tattooing on, but from my experience getting the actual stencil to stick around long enough to pull a few lines was tough in the beginning.

What I have learned and now do is I will place my stencil or stencils all down on the silicone skin and I let them sit for about 12-24 hours. Practically on a real tattoo on human skin you would want to let set for about 20-25 mins, in my opinion the longer the better.

You will notice that when you let the stencil sit this long on the practice you can wipe the stencil off but you will still be left with a lighter version of the outline. On silicone skin the stencil doesn't fully come off unless submerged for a period of time in bleach.

Me personally I love the fact that the stencil binds and sticks to the silicone in this manor because it allows me to finish the entire tattoo without having to worry about losing the stencil.

This also allows me to really focus on on other techniques such as pulling lines, shading, etc.

Rub some talc powder on the skin before applying the stencilstuff, it kinda absorbs the excess liquid (like real skin would). I'm having a lot less stencil bleed since doing that trick :) Also: drying it for a couple of minutes with a blowdryer keeps it on really well!

Thank you! This is the first video I've found where it isn't frowned upon not using Reel Skin or the like. It is way easier to go buy these generic skins off of Amazon than having to import Reel skin, for me at least, so these are the ones I am using.

Are there any alternatives you can use instead of the speed stick?? I'm having major issues getting my transfer paper to actually transfer my tattoo designs on fake skin. I cant for the life of me get it to all transfer like at all. I'm drawing the design and everything right but it just wont transfer. I'm a new to the tattooing thing so I'm tryna figure out how to practice to the best of my ability

The problem I have with the current fake skin I have maybe cause it’s cheap is that when I wipe the excess ink it smudges a lot and leaves a big black shade smudge I hate it I have to use petroleum jelly to remove it but doesn’t usually get rid of all the black smudge just a decent amount

Hey Danny Yuck! Thanks for the great tips! Also great practicing on pork belly skin.. that’s how I practiced my PMU.
Ok so Speed Stick - solid one? Not gel.
That’s my issue is my stencils blur. 🤦🏻‍♀️
