I was recently reminded of this fact. My kitty and myself had to evacuate immediately due to the Bridge fire as homes had started to burn in our village of Wrightwood in California. It was traumatic for us both. We were lucky enough to find a room available but my poor Nathaniel had to deal with lights, sirens, a sky red with ash and burnt embers raining down but then to find himself in a strange territory without his water fountain amongst other things. What I did to alleviate his stress was vital in helping him with the 10 day ordeal. First I had our bug out bags ready with him positive about getting into his carrier. I had packed his regular food and treats, favorite toys, favorite blanket, regular food bowls, then I got creative using a plastic ice bucket, putting it into the wet bar sink, letting the faucet run on low so he had a makeshift water fountain, slept on my usual side of the bed, opened cabinets so he could freely inspect his new territory. As a result of these actions he was eating and drinking after the first 20 hours. I'm sharing our experience as a guide if you ever find yourself having to evacuate for any reason. So be prepared and do everything possible to make it less stressful on your animals. You'll be glad you did.❤

So funny—my cat Scarlett O’hara (PSA: Careful what you name your cat because she will live up to it) sleeps next to me every night but refuses to get into bed until I perform turndown service! She’ll wail that she’s so tired, but until I fold the duvet down, put her nighttime toy and morning toy in front of her spot, and get in bed on my side, she won’t hop in. 😂 My furry little diva likes her evening ritual. ❤

Thank you, Jackson, again for always giving advice about how to keep our cats happy and keep them away from stress.
Just a week ago, my first cat (a rescue) passed away. Im gonna miss him so much. Specially during New Year's eve. He never had to deal with any chaos or loud noise -- he was deaf. And he was just as happy as any normal cat. For him, being deaf helped a lot. Crowd of people or even my dogs didnt bother him since he was introduced to such that they dont make any loud noise.

I hate chaos but my cats actually love it! when I turn things around in the house they play and run all over the house chirping. My cats are crazy 😂

I'm currently in the middle of moving / leaving the normal bed, food, and desk for last. Not just for my comfort. But so Wormtail can also have his normal human bed and some of his furniture until we leave for temporary housing. Then also packing blankets and things for him to have that he remembers at our soo to be old shall see how this ends up

Honestly my old cat before she passed away loved it when I’d stay home all day cause it meant she had company and got to do her favourite things but she’d get so anxious and desperate to find me when I’d go somewhere without her. I miss her so much.

People saying their cats actually like chaos, its different, two different things. The fact they play and make a mess and meow and like action, its part of their playful/active nature. Even when you change some furniture to another spot I think its a good thing cause they see it as a playful thing, they will check it out, smell it, maybe find a bug that was behind it....I noticed my cat have fun when I clean the house, she hides behind things, try to grab the broom.... but since cleaning is something we do often, once a week, shes familiar with it and its safe. I guess the real chaos has to do with routine, basic things like time to eat, who they interact with everyday, what each member of the family do everyday, what time each of them wake up, the amount of time each one stay at home, the time one goes to work/arrives from it etc...
