As a 14 year old, I had a chance to watch a new musical called Wicked, starring Kristen Chenowith and Idina Menzel, and I decided the $60 weren’t worth it…. I still wake up in the middle of the night regretting it. 😔

I had VERY LOW expectations for Wicked specifically for Ariana... but I was blown away with how amazing the movie was!! Specifically the smaller moments and physical comedy (example: committing to the hair flips) just made her performance as Glinda pop!!! :) Also, I audibly gasped when Idina and Kristin came out

One thing I want to add is that the director John M. Chu has actually been very clear in stating that he actually did not want to cast Ariana because he didn’t want people to think she just got casted because she’s a big name. He talks about how Ariana had to audition multiple times and actually worked really hard for the role. She, herself, said she wanted to feel like she earned it and that she loved the role so much she wanted it to go to the right person even if that wasn’t her. I have never been an Ariana fan before this, but I was blown away by her performance in the film. It never felt like we were watching popstar Ariana Grande, but like you were actually seeing Galinda come to life on the big screen. Super impressive performance for me.

I never saw the musical but my mom did several times. She praised how good it was. I wanted to see it and was so impressed by it. I have been obsessed with it since I saw it a week ago. I love it and I can’t wait to see it again.
