The one thing I don't like about the new rule is that it has essentially eliminated the onside kick. Probably the most memorable game in Seahawks history was the comeback victory in the NFC title game against the Packers. If this was the rule then, that game would have been over with five minutes left to play. Instead the onside kick led to Seattle scoring a touchdown to take the lead. Then the two point conversion. Green Bay storming back to tie it and then Seattle winning it in overtime.

I think they could offer more opportunities to scheme the defense. For instance what if they didnt have to line up equal distance from each other, instead you could have people back further. Might not look super fun but neither were kickoffs and the injury risk for kickoffs was significant. I'm glad the nfl is experimenting with new rules here.

They should just go back to the regular kick off.

Yeah I'm not liking this new kick-off format... I understand if XFL does this format but still it isn't perfect

This should be simple. For the kicking team, if your team has a 7+ point lead, kick it off into the End Zone. If your team is behind, or the game is very close, depending on the time, kick it into one of the corners at around the 5-10 yard line in hopes your coverage unit can strip the ball. For the return team, excessively simple. If they kick it to you outside the 5 yard line, return it. If the kick is inside the 5 or the End Zone, don't (unless you're down by 20+ and are desperate to score in any way possible). Teams win games on kick returns roughly 1% of the time. Teams lose games based on turnover ratio 80% of the time. DON'T TURN THE BALL OVER ON YOUR KICKING TEAM CUZ YOU WANT TO TRY AND RETURN IT FOR A TD. Win games.

I don't like it. It looks weird, seems weird. And theres mot really much excitement or intensity from this kind of kick off.

I don’t like it but I guess we will see. Hard to tell off a preseason game. However what happens to the onside kicks now? Hopefully they change it back if games that needed an onside kick has no chance now or the league and fans don’t like it. We will see after the season though.

Dynamic??? Wow! Talk about marketing a lemon. When do we just put on the flags and get this over with?

They should just replace kick-off with a 4th and 15 type play. Punt unless you're desperate. Done. Much simplier.

No more kicking the ball into or out of the end zone

Still think we're gonna see a whole bunch of touchbacks when the game actually matters. Kick it into the endzone so the returner has to make up the extra yardage just to get to the 30. Also, unless this is against the rules, couldn't the kicker still just force the touchback? Both teams handshake the extra 5 yards and nothing changes except for the part where the play looks incredibly stupid.

Needs plenty of tweaking and asap. That and the onside kick rule ? Plain weird! There will be Plenty more Injuries and Officiating mistakes (Bad Calls)! #cluster

I'll give maybe 2 seasons at the most before the NFL puts it back to normal and not this f ing BS here. Especially when it comes to onside kicks.

Since Timmy and Tammy from the suburbs are so scared that their children might get traumatized watching their favorite players get hurt on kickoffs, or any other play, the league changed the rules so it’s bread and butter players can be seen on TV as much as they can. This is a grown mans sport, not a school play. Sorry the number one pick in the draft blew his knee on the first play of the game. If kids get traumatized by watching football, maybe those people can find another contact sport where no one gets hurt. That league is too big for its own britches.

The new kickoff rules are awesome. Haters will soon see.
