Made this video to answer a few questions I had on a recent Facebook and Instagram post. This is how I use Midi Guitar 2 a piece of software from JamOrigin to trigger VSTS using my guitar as a midi controller. No hardware or midi pickups.

Thanks for that m8, I have been using my Casio pg 380 midi guitar for 35 years now. It must be one of the earliest, been playing 7 milliseconds ahead of time ever since 😀

Is there a way to also have the dry sound combined with the converted midi synth playing at the same time?

$40 for all three in ap purchases which essentially let you use it in a DAW. So it's $40

Thanks for the video. However, I need some help getting Origin playing MIDI notes to another track to trigger that track's VI. I assume that's what you were doing in the video. My DAW is PT2020 and I am using Blue Cat Axiom as my "wrapper" to run Origin's VST. Thanks in advance.

Hi mate, I'm setting up midi guitar 2 with ableton, but I'm still having some trouble using it as a stand alone midi device.

So as well as using guitar, I am also using my vocals through a microphone (sm7b) to make midi instrument sounds, and it works perfectly! This plug-in is sweet for it and I love being able to sing a synth.

As a plug-in in ableton, everything works perfectly fine, but I can only record as audio via an audio track.

To make midi tracks, I followed your video, have midiguitar2 open as a stand alone plugin and even went into the interface settings for it and set the output to my focusrite USB MIDI.

I have virtual instruments set up and everything is ready to go, midiguitar2 has signal coming in, but I'm still not getting any midi signal in ableton from it.

Please help, I feel like there has to be a step somewhere that I have missed. Could you give me step by step instructions on how to set it up with your DAW?

Thank you and love the video. very informative.

Can you give some tips on how to avoid spurious notes? So far I have noticed using a string damper and using thicker strings for extra tension helps but I still get lots of false notes.

Works fine in standalone but I can’t figure out how to use it as a midi input in my DAW. Using FL Studio and Line 6 UX2 as audio input/driver.
