The Murdaughs were one of South Carolina’s most prominent families, but the death of teenager Mallory Beach in a drunken boating accident began the unraveling of their legacy. When Paul Murdaugh – the alleged driver of the boat – and his mother Maggie are found brutally murdered, a century of corruption, power, and cover-ups in the Low Country is brought to light. The three-part series will feature first-hand accounts from those on the boat that fateful night, many of whom have not spoken about the crash or double homicide of Maggie and Paul until now, including: Paul Murdaugh’s longtime girlfriend, Morgan Doughty; Mallory Beach's childhood friends, Miley Altman and Connor Cook; Mallory's boyfriend, Anthony Cook; and, several others.

A Netflix Documentary Series, Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal is only on Netflix February 22nd.

We need more documentaries like this. Shedding light on old wealthy families and the crimes they commit. Most go cold forever!

What absolutely disgusts me to my core is that in this life if you have money and power you can do just about anything without any repercussions

I didn't think a family could run a small town anymore until I heard about this case. It's so crazy. It took generations to build up their family's good name and one man and his family to destroy it and taking other lives with them. I'm glad to see Netflix covering this case.

When I first heard these events- I said it could never be written as a movie because it is so completely outrageous. I feel for the terror this family has been inflicting on this community!

This case has shown me that so many people up north and around other regions of America really had no idea how small towns in the south operate. Your family can have a solid reputation in a small town in the Chicagoland area - even central Illinois for all you want, but it won’t get you very far. Politics are ran by the big boys in the big cities. Whereas in the south, name and history are everything. It’s power. So as long as you have the support of the high ranking people within that community, all your skeletons will never leave the bubble. I can attest to this from personal experience. My cousin was hit and killed when crossing the street by a distracted driver. That driver just so happened to be a pretty girl from a prestigious family. Immediately you know how it turns out. Do you think she received any consequences from taking someone’s life? Nope! Just a few hours of community service. Something so painfully tragic happened to us and yet I don’t even like to mention the driver by name due to fear of repercussions… that’s ugly power. Welcome to the southern chapter of the good ole’ boys club.

The biomechanical engineer was key in proving that there was no way that Connor could have been driving that boat. Impressive. There are so many things about this whole story that infuriate me. Among the many of them was when Anthony's Mom told law enforcement at the crash site that someone needed to call Mallory's parents and one of the officers actually says not a good idea because they could cause a scene. Um, what?? Oh I'm sorry, was that going to be an inconvenience for Paul's family to see the mother and father of the young woman their son is responsible for killing? That is disgusting. Her poor parents..and my heart breaks for Anthony. He adored her. It's so frigging sad.

The boat crash occurred in my hometown. EVERYONE that saw Paul that night knew how incredibly intoxicated he was

When I heard about this case, I couldn’t believe how many deaths were connected to one family. It’s insane. It reminded me a lot of Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell.

It’s crazy to me how fast Netflix can crank out these documentaries before the story is even over … this looks good tho

This looks like the best Murdaugh documentary yet! Maybe the other victims in this saga (Gloria and Stephen) will get the justice they deserve.

Being a south carolina native, (north eastern South carolina) we never expect stories like this. From the start I was certain paul and Maggie were killed out of revenge for Stephen or Mallory, then I found out about Gloria, then found out about Alex claiming someone shot him, but the craziest things I've learned wasn't from Eric's channel or anyone covering this story. I found out about operation jackpot and after asking a lot of folks from Florence sc down beufort, Columbia and north myrtle/ myrtle beach. Alex's and his father's ties into the drug smuggling game is way bigger than people know and has spilt blood everywhere. My own mother opened up about a guy her friends dad knew, learnt he was caught up in operation Jackpot, had ties with Alex and barret boulware. Well whoever this guy was, he had some exotic and wild animals, 3 of which were a cougar, panther and mountain lion. He had released them in the area between Florence and sellers, around the same time, he disappeared.. lost all of his land and ironically enough a section of that land is now home to a store called Hotspot. It gets a little crazier, there's a dirt road about quarter mile from the store, go down it and there's two brick columns no one know why they are there, go through them and you'll come across a cemetery, few of the names are murdaugh and boulware. But the Graves are empty. There's one grave that isn't empty, it's unmarked, has a stone but no name dates. Nothing but people who live in the area remember the funeral service and the dates of that service, doesnt line up to any of the dates of the other graves. Dug a little further, found out The current owner of the land, last name is Smith. No one knows who he is or his first name. not even the funeral homes. Well oddly enough that same road, has very small and hidden access to the great pee dee river. A river big enough for 40 60 ft boats but hasn't been accessed since 1989. That's as far as I've made it with this and hope one day to document it all myself. I haven't yet because I don't have enough sources to back some of the important info.
